Nick. If you want to see some of the nicest wood gun blanks. Go to Old Tree Gun Blanks. Him and his dad have supplied wood stocks to the Weatherby's since the 40's. That's where I bought my screwbean mesquite blank. The blank wasn't cheap, ($2035.00) but it's rare and a real beauty. Terry Leonard never worked with that kind of wood before and he was excited to build the stock because most of his stocks are Redwood which is OK but there are a lot of them out there. He built me a pistachio stock built on a new Farley Black Widow that came out real nice. When I shipped him the blank, he said to me I hope you didn't pay a lot of money for this. I said why? He said because it's kind of plain. Well I said we could use it for a chock block if it doesn't come out too good. That was the long running joke about that stock. It took over a year to get finished because at one point he accidently put his hand into his table saw, (OUCH!). But towards the end he kept telling me that the more it gets finished the better it is looking. The end product wasn't all that bad looking for a $400.00 blank.

View attachment 1000322 Here is a prototype F-Open Chassis that we are working with Gary Eliseo on (www.gotxring.com). It is the same as his current F1 chassis, but has a different barrel block. Instead of using a glue-in block (which is not reusable), this has a clamp-style block with 16 screws. We are going to give it a whirl at the BSWN next week. (Defiance Deviant Action, B&A trigger, March 5-40x56 FFP scope). Notice the entire action free floats behind the barrel block. The cheek piece is much narrower than a standard wood version: very comfortable and allows you to get right behind the scope easier.
