I think the motors were much better than the bodies. Most dragsters and funny cars ran Chrysler blocks or 'clones' since the late fifties, depending on the class. My older brother ran a 'funny car', " Bubble Up/ 240 Gordy Bonin", in the late 70s early 80s. Keith Black 'clone' Chrysler motors. Most are still running similar motors with refinements and much better clutch systems. There are many videos on YouTube of him racing, back into the 1960s.

Used to have a wrecker business and an old man said his renters moved out and he needed the things in the garage hauled off. An old Toyota pickup with an old Ducati MC, a 265ci Chev motor, and a 440 six pack engine with a 4 speed hooked to it. Bear in mind this was 35 years ago, but I thought I cut a fat hog getting $650 for it. Wife's cousin in Las Vegas was a mopar freak. I bought a 70 Suburban there that he had serviced and we flew in to drive it back. I put 2 -8 3/4 posi third members and a 2-4 intake for a poly 318 with the old WCFB Carter carbs. I took the intake to the Super Shoot and got Billy Stevens to take it back to Alabama for a collector. One item that the cousin had that maybe very few were made was an aluminum block 225 engine that was a Hyper Pack. I've seen a couple, but that is the only aluminum block one that I've seen.

Also used to be with a pure stock 69 Barracuda with 4 speed. Ran it at local 1/8 mlle dragstrip for 3 years in stock class, always did very well with it in its class. Actually ran it at the Nationals in Indy one year and got thumped. Those were the glory days of Sox & Martin. Great memories!

Years ago. 1979 purchased a 1971 Hemi Challenger from my cousin. Was like new when I purchased it and when I sold it in 1994. Biggest mistake I've ever made in my life was selling it. Owned a few other Mopars. 73 Road runner(360) and a 68 GTX(383). The 360 replaced the 340. The 383 was factory and the 426 was factory in the Challenger. Currently looking for a toy again. Haven't crossed paths with it yet tho.

Yeah with the short wheel base, good tires, and posi trac, she crawls up and over obstacles like a jeep but has twice the cargo space and seating room. The old Mopar 360 engines are pretty much bulletproof. Keep up on normal maintenance and they will run forever. This one has about 240k miles and runs like a top.

Many years ago......1970.........):

Sold it two years later.....At the same time I had a '68 GTS 340 4 speed 'Rag Top'
