Are you impressed with it Jim? Other than your primer pocket uniformer issue.I got mine from Alpha Munitions, but I see the are about out of stock on everything.... jim
Well the story is still out on that, the neck issue concerns me more. they don't clean up at .0112.... It was a lot of work to get a carbide uniformer to fit the primer pocket without cutting any diameter out. They other wise seem good they are long for my 1.560 chamber and need trimmed a little, but that is good. plus they seem really straight ...... After I get them all prepped , I will weigh them.... jimAre you impressed with it Jim? Other than your primer pocket uniformer issue.
The interval is hard to predict, so I can’t guess when they will roll out more 6 Dasher, but I would advise you punch your email into their notification system so that when it does come out you can move on it before it all dries up till the next cycle.Where is everyone buying alpha Dasher brass or is it not available yet? Every place I Find is out of stock.
Thanks RegionRat, I did that. I guess I’ll just have to wait. You must follow their web page prompts by starting to select the 6 Dasher and the amount, it will then tell you to register or log in to get on the wait list, in so many words you need to create a login reg first.
I turned mine (.011) for a tight neck chamber with a .266 neck. They came out beautifully. They are harder and have less spring back than the Lapua brass - not sure if that is good or bad or just different. They were long and needed and OAL trim. Primers seated fine with a two "click" difference on my 21st Century priming tool as compared to seating in my Lapua brass.
Went to the range this weekend but didn't get a chance to test as the 20mph switching wind was too much for me to give it a fair shake. Soon though.
My bullets are custom and are .2425. I just rechecked my neck walls and they are actually turned closer to .010 not .011. My mistake.
The point of my 1st post is the fact that my lot of Alpha brass neck turned beautifully. When I ran the first one I gradually took it down to the final size. It cleaned nicely all the way - even out at .012 where yours apparently did not. Maybe it is a lot vs lot thing?
When I get some more in I will take some measurements on the virgin necks. I made a fixture so I can set my turner to the .0001" pretty easily. I'll creep up on a few to see where they clean up 100%
Alex, I'm using a Pumpkin and it is real easy to get a .0001 or less.... jimWhen I get some more in I will take some measurements on the virgin necks. I made a fixture so I can set my turner to the .0001" pretty easily. I'll creep up on a few to see where they clean up 100%
Calipers are only accurate to within two thousandths. Here is one bullet, measured by two different calipers, that is .2425. Now you can believe, if you want, that I applied extra pressure to the calipers to get the measurement. I am stating that I didn't. I am not even holding them. This one happens to be a Berger 105 Hybrid. These bullets and my customs rattle along into the 1's and into the X's more often than not so it is all good on this end.
This doesn't really have anything to do with the point that my Alpha Brass cleaned up well at .012 and at each adjustment to my final depth. What yours did or did not do I cannot say.
Time for another cup of coffee on my end.
