Gun safety on the set was established. The armorer was responsible for the guns, ammunition, and coaching the actors in handling the firearms. The assistant director was the backup check. He verified the gun was "safe". Baldwin, the actor just followed the direction given to him. Pretty clear. Placing blame on Baldwin was going to be a long shot.

Baldwin was just an actor following the director's direction. He does not have "gun sense". He probably thumb cocked the hammer while his index finger was depressing the trigger and his thumb slipped off of the hammer spur when it reached full cock. That will fire the gun.

Sure will. Don’t have to reach anywhere near”full cock” either. I’d say , trigger depressed, and half way back with the hammer will discharge the weapon.

I'm calling BS on "the gun fired without the trigger being pulled". Manslaughter seems a bit harsh for what was clearly an accident, but come on. He should have known better and pulled the trigger. I'm still amazed that they would have a gun capable of firing live rounds on a movie set at all.

NM grand jury circling back. Baldwin may be an asshole, but he should not be indicted IMO. The State destroyed the firearm before his team could examine the FA. The gun 'wrangler' is at fault. AB definitely screwed up by not checking the FA. Even if one looked to see if a 'bullet' was in the chamber, could be all the rounds were dummies. Case is snakebit. If there was ever an example to keep your mouth shut, this is exhibit 1 and 1A.

It has to be put in context. Using that process makes every actor responsible for the 'expert' handing the firearms. In normal (non movie making set) context, 100% should be prosecuted. I think there have been other negligent killings on set that did not result in criminal charges. I think the gun 'wrangler' is criminally responsible. 99% of actors in last 70 years did not check their firearm before blazing away during a movie shoot/ pardon the expression.

Well what would you expect ? He ( strong anti-gun person) and others like Hunter, can break the gun laws, even manslaughter crimes, like Baldwin did and nothing will be done. But let Joe Blow, everyday honest citizen break a gun law and they will be arrested, in jail, court, found guilty and sent off to prison for a few years.
