I have both the Montana extreme copper killer and the Bore Tech CU +2 copper remover. I may have to run me a test. I don't use the Montana Extreme anymore, I can't stand the ammonia and I'd rather not put it in my barrel if I don't have to. I've been using the B.T. copper remover for several years and after treatment per directions it does it's job by verifying with my borescope.

So far I think I'll stick to gunslick now hoppes foaming bore cleaner for semiautos and pistols. really bought it for a arsenal AK and if y'all know anything about those rifles solvents eat the finish off metal but along the way I discovered it was great on copper but sucks at powder fouling.
But for now I'll stick to bore tech cu2 on copper and use free all on carbon in my bolt guns along with JB.ill try the eliminator before long also I've just ventured into the newer solvents past few years.got a little concerned about ammonia being in my basement with my brass after having a few once fired brass split case necks.
I like KG products but patches not changing color was disappointing but get what y'all are saying about borescope and not letting patch color mislead you.old habits I guess
I still like old school copper solvents for barrel break ins.ive used shooters choice so long I can tell what the patch is telling me at the range pretty good.
I sometimes wonder how many years Ive taken off my life cleaning guns in my basement not wearing gloves.lol come upstairs and whole house smells like shooters choice

I've no idea. That's why I posted a picture of the bottle. If the label on the bottle you're using says CU2 I'd say it's not the same.
If it smells like ammonia I'd bet it's something they used to offer.cause everything I see now they sell says ammonia free and I couldn't find it on Interwebs.
My wife makes sure I'm not in the house if I use the Montana Xtreme stuff. If something is working for you, why change it?
That was my experience too. I'm glad I wasn't the only one. This stuff sucks.

If they don't still make the Copper Remover I pictured above I'll not be buying anything they make in the future.

Vortec eliminator smells like soap. It doesn't smell like ammonia at all. And I'll say it one more time, it beat every single thing I tested including every other thing mentioned in this thread

The BoreTec Copper Remover I posted definitely smells like ammonia. Perhaps it's a discontinued product. After my C4 Carbon Remover experience I'm wary of trying any more of their recent products.
The Bore Tech Copper remover that you posted I believe is old and different from what I'm using.

It would be interesting to run a scope down a few of his bores. Bet I can guess what we'd see.

In my experience, accuracy falls off without the use of a bronze brush. Just because someone was in the military doesn't mean they are the end all be all of firearm related knowledge.
Many were using Sweets exclusively.
For these copper removing threads, I think it would be helpful for people to post something about the barrel. The reason that I say that is that all of my copper issues have pretty much been with rough factory barrels. Once my top level lapped barrels are broken in (which is usually a 20 shot procedure) I see very little copper. For those barrels, the issue is hard carbon, not powder fouling, but the stuff that no brush or non abrasive cleaner will touch. I have that under control, but for many it is a continuing issue. The other think that would be helpful would be to know how often the poster cleans. The other day I was discussing load development with a friend, who asked me if I thought he needed to clean after 150 rounds. One of the reasons that I do not end up with big cleaning problems is that I clean every 25 rounds or so, depending on the powder and caliber.

Never seen anybody use sweets at a br match. Military guys used sweets, steel core bronze brushes, and 3 piece rods with mismatched joints because thats what they were issued
