A 7 dollar barrel tuner

in my original post I had a typo and forgot a zero when referring to the hose clamp tuner on my CZ452.

Last June there was a challenge over at Rimfire central where you had to use no match ammo and shoot 4 groups. Remington T bolt, Blazer, the .22 stuff you buy 500 at a time etc and get match ammoo groups.

I used a hose clamp to get bulk CCI Std vel to shoot a .181 average group at 25Yards, and .436 @ 50 yards with my bone stock CZ452. I also played with Remington T bolt and Federal bulk with similar results

That is what got me into playing with tuners. I now have a Harrel on my Kidd 22 and a Ezell on a .308
I have a CZ452 that I would like to try the hose clamp tuning with. It sounds like a risk-free good idea to me! Question: when you were testing different locations on the barrel, how much would you move the clamp each time, and how many shot groups were you shooting? Thanks!

this was my first time playing with one of these so to answer your question I was moving it too much and shooting 5 shot groups. It took me 20 moves using a the depth rod on my caliper to find the sweet spot. I suggest using a second clamp to temporarily mark the position of the first clamp and using a feeler gage to move the main no more than .010 - .020 at a time. One thing I learned since that experiment was that a small move can make a big difference. You can watch the groups go from vertical to horizontal to round then back again.

At any rate it can help but it could result in a lot of ammo being used up to achieve nothing.

Sounds like my normal load tuning.

I only use the O-ring thing on my old target .22 rifle. And I don't really put that much effort into it, as it's not being used for much other than entertainment.
