Front sight reducing collar, Is there such a thing?

I have an adjustable front sight with a 0.750 mounting collar. The rifle that I am considering mounting it on has a barrel diameter of 0.600
Is there such a thing as a reducing collar or spacer that will allow this to work? Something similar to those inserts that used to sometimes come with 30mm scope rings to make a 1 inch tube fit.

Is the barrel straight (untapered) at the muzzle? If so, a bushing would be very simple. If it’s tapered, slightly more difficult, but certainly doable.

Anyone with a lathe should be able to make it easily. I would use aluminum, but other materials would work. If you don’t have anyone handy, let me know, I’ll make it for you.

What sight are you using? Could just make a sight base with the appropriate diameter hole for the barrel diameter

I did that on a sight base that was .812 and went on a .750 barrel. Just made a tube and slit it so it would clamp down by the sight base. Easy to do.

Har the same issue w/bloop tube on a smallbore rifle years ago. 0.750” - 0.600” = 0.150” / 2 = 0.075”.

Cut a strip of aluminum from a pop can long enough to wrap twice around the muzzle tenon then slipped the ‘tube on, tightened the clamping screws.

Worked great. No wobble, no ‘floating’ zero. I think that Al is ~ 0.003” thick.

0.812” on a 0.750” tenon needs 0.0625” gap filler, 0.3125” all’round. Easier to work up a machined bushing I think (than with the .60 to .75 difference needing so much less material) or find some 0.030” aluminum sheet some place you could roll a strip into a bushing out of.

What did you make it from?

I have a couple of offset sights made by Scott Medisha, the front band was .812 and they came with a bushing to use if you had a .750 muzzle.
The bushing was split and made of some sort of plastic or nylon type material.
Worked great.

A good hardware store will have a selection of shaft/bore reducing sleeves and bushings of various material. 15mm bore, 2mm wall, would probably be almost perfect. Or a slotted 5/8-3/4.

The main thing is the OD and ID have to be reasonably close to the barrel and sight dimensions. As was said, a custom bushing would be great. Simple to make, if you happen to have a lathe handy.

Yes take doug up on his generous offer. Brass shim stock is an option in a pinch if its too thin to make a bushing

Made mine from a piece of aluminum round stock. Just lined the slot of it with the slot on sight and have to look close to know it's there.
