6mm Creedmoor - thoughts and experience

I'm building a 6mm CM rifle. AP Solus action. 7.25 twist Brux (29") barrel.

Plan is for Lapua brass + CCI BR2 primers + Berger 109 LRT Hybrid bullets + N555 powder.

I have 2. One is a ruger american predator model. I also have a springfield 2020. I like the cartridge. One im using ADG brass with 108 eldm. The other one just settled in 105 vld-h bergers, peterson brass. Both using H4350. I use federal 210 primers. I use LRP only.

Mine is built on a trued SA Rem 700 with a 20in Proof CF wrapped barrel and it has become one of my favorite rifles. Mine was built as a mid range general purpose suppressor ready setup and it has filled that role quite nicely for me. I mostly shoot Nosler 70gr BT's w/RL16 in mine and it stacks them up into some pretty tiny little groups. My daughter shot her first ever deer a couple years ago with it and it flat dumped him on his nose at right around 200yds.

One of my most accurate, non-benchrest, rifles is a Solus action, Krieger barrel, in 6mm Creedmoor. Some lots of the Hornady Match ammo with the 108 ELD-M will consistently shoot 1/4" groups at 100 yards. The load I worked up for it uses Lapua brass, Berger 105 Hybrid, and H4350 powder.

I have 2-6mmCM rifles. The first is a Ruger RPR that wears a WOA Wilson barrel and Timney trigger. The 2nd is a GA Precision Team rifle. It is on its' 2nd Bartlett barrel. Your planned load is sound and should shoot very well for you. Just so you know, as I have mentioned in other threads before, I get frequent hang fires with N555 powder and small rifle primers should you ever decide to try SRP brass. Others have said they don't have any issues with N555 and small primers but buyer beware as they say. FWIW I still use 555 but only use Large primers. Standard primers work just as well as the far more expensive CCI BR2's. Enjoy your new build!

Currently using a Tikka T3 action with Bartlein barrel (7.5 twist, 28", Heavy Varmint contour). Rifle is very accurate, best group @ 100 yds measured .292"using Berger 105Hybrid Target bullets over 38.6 gr of H4350 and CCI 200 primers in Peterson LRP cases. SD's for that load are in the 6-8 fps.

The only advice I have is that the 109 can be a tad tricky to tune. Its a fantastic bullet but may take a little time finding the sweet spot. The 105 Hybrids and the 108s are way easier in my experience and work quite well on deer sized game. I have only used H4350 and R16 and have had stellar success with those.

I have a Solus w Kreiger 7.5t shooting 115 Dtacs (old ones). It shoots good groups, but I’m about to switch bullets because it won’t shoot ‘great’ groups.
