Another .243 vs 6XC vs 6mm Creedmoor discussion

Been shooting them since I saw the artical on Accurateshooter back in the day.

If you realy dont care about barrel life it wil run a 115gr Dtac at 3250fps and clean a 1000y F-open target. Sako brass, size and load or if you want to turn necks just spec you reamer for Lapua brass and spend allot of time turning necks.

I have beem shooting 6mms since i could talk and this is the only one I need.
not sure which cartridge you are referring to, being the one you use currently. thanks in advance.

That case appears to have a LOT of taper. Much more than a .243 would have.

Think its just the picture or the way it was taken, I was actually thinking the same thing when I looked at the post.

Pics below are unsized SLR cases and then one next to a sized 22-250

@urbanrifleman im unsure, ill have a look at the reamer specs or the QuickLoad file I build when I took all the measurements. Should be around .322” odd something

I bet that cartridge is great.

I wanted to try a 6XC. However, confusion around the XC vs XC II, reamers and clickers had me going in circles. Tubb is very prescriptive about what he used and wasn't sure if those components would always be available. With that said, I went 6 Creed. I don't know that I'm sold on it either other than to say factory ammo is available if that's your schtick. I've always been impressed with the 6XC on paper and may try it or may go the other way and try a 6GT.

6xc 2 was an invention of a guy who had nothing to do with David Tubb and his cartridge. He really screwed David.

6gt is literally not really great at anything. In my opinion. Although I am sure my opinion would not be popular.

Yes, and if I remember correctly the neck is .350". You use to be able to find this information on Robert's AR site.
There's a lot of information in the archives on this. Robert actually had to adjust the name of it due to some sort of an infringement, also if I remember that correctly. The 6SLR is easy peasy, accurate and will push a DTAC at a decent speed. The case capacity is a couple of grains or so of H20 smaller than a Competition Match (6CM). Robert Whitley I believe is an Attorney.

So I guess the one that I've been talking about is the 6slr. It's a 243 with a really long neck.
@ScottyS shot a 6mm SLR for a while. He had a video of it out to 2k. He was shooting 115 Dtacs. However, his competition partner, convinced him to shoot 6.5 Creed, so they would both be shooting the same thing. Scotty is a good enough shot with anything that he can make it work.

@ Vonb,..
Don't be afraid to try one as,.. it's NOT,.. "Rocket Science".
Just choose, the 6 XC, Version ONE, Tubb Design, Reamer with, the CORRECT amount of, Free bore and the barrel Twist for, the Bullets that YOU, want to Shoot.
Buy NORMA or, Peterson Brass and a set of, Forster 6 XC Dies,.. easy peasy ! ( or, Tubb's Dies ).
For Me, the 1-7.5 Twist ( or, a 1-8 Tw ) with .104 Free Bore, gets IT Done for, most all, 80 gr. to 108 gr. Bullets and will probably shoot, the SMK, 110 grainer's, real fine, also.
The 115 DTAC's like, a Longer Free bore with, a 1-7 or 1-7.5 Twist, but I don't know more than what, I've read on here about, THAT bullet ( I'm NOT, a 1,000 Yd Competitor ). I've been THRILLED with, the Accuracy I'm getting from my 6 XC with, SMK 107's "Jammed" in My, short Free bore barrel ( One Hole, 2's and 3's for, 5 shots ) and am looking forward to Stretching it out, when warmer Weather, finally gets Here.
Note; the 6 XC Version ll, is for those that want to, "Try" making Brass from, .22-250 Rem / Win Brass and personally, I'd AVOID, that Chit like,.. the Plague !

I can say I have a 6XC chamber I designed to my liking. It just was a little tighter at the.200 mark and a .274 Nk. Min clearance no turn. .105 freebore. Because I’m a control freak. It works fine. Some wouldn’t like it that tight and you did the click at the top of the bolt lift. I like it. Have no problem. People get crazy over nothing and put too much thought into stuff. I had the 6XC ll chamber. I sold the Rifle, dies, and the Jgs reamer I had for it. I actually thought it was a chamber D Tubbs was using for a while there. It was a little more generous In dimensions and had .006 .008 neck clearance and I a .176 freebore if I remember correctly. I believe it was D Tubbs. Said he had better results with the larger neck dia. IDK. I set it up for the Berger 115 VLD 1-7 twist. It did not disappoint. Basically just a 6XC. I really never had or seen much difference other than was really set up to my liking for a 105 and one was on the bigger side with matched dies set up for the 115 Berger. They both shot extremely well. I really wouldn’t get too concerned as long as a 6XC case would work in. Should be fine. lol.

I believe you may be confused. 6xc was originally formed from 22-250. The 6xc2 reamer is for those who wish to form brass from 308 based cartridges, as those are slightly larger at the .200 line.
