6GT project/range report

George had a ton of brass down at the GAP Grind this past weekend. Sold quite a bit but he took some back home with him as well. So he has it in stock.

More details soon...

I bet over half that weight is the Vortex Gen II Razor scope on the rifle. Lol :D

Hornady 6GT!

4000 came and 4000 GONE!

Dan already hit the range with it and is impressed so far.

Single digit SDs and ESs straight out of the box.

72.00 a hundred, small rifle primer and is available through GAP. I would bet all 200,000 pieces go in short order.

@Kimber.204 , give the shop a call. They might not even have it up yet. The official release was at the GAP Grind this past weekend. George got some to me quick because we wanted to give it a real run this next weekend at a match in Bakersfield. Dan is going to run it and see what happens.

So far the numbers are freaking great. Single digit SDs and ESs.

Brass is only one of the many factors that go into getting single digits SDs and ESs. Unless shooting ELR, those tiny speed spreads aren't nearly as important as one might think.

I have a couple rifles that get single digit SD/ES with junky old Remington and Winchester brass (prepped in every way), then other rifles that can or have done it with Lapua brass. Then another rifle that shoots with 23 fps ES on a regular basis using Lapua brass BUT exhibits much less vertical dispersion than all the rest at long range. Go figure...

After 1050 rounds, I pushed the 112s out .35 thou to stay 20 off the lands.

Not bad considering I ran this gun hard over the last 6 weeks in a bunch of local matches and then the Bakersfield PRS match.

0 velocity drop, same 33.5gn of varget @ 2900fps.

Excellent info. Thanks for going to the trouble of posting it all up.

Would be great to see some footage of the 6GT feeding through AICS and AW mags. What's putting me off is the thought that it may still be too short to work without modifying the mags in some way.

I have been reading this forum and finally decided to pull the trigger on a barrel. Is a 1:7.5 twist barrel sufficient to push the new Berger 109 gr. out to 1000 yards?

Current round count log.

Did an accuracy test @ 1515 rounds this past Saturday. With a lil more throat erosion, I gave the DTACs another shot and found a nice load I will verify next range session. 112s are still hammering for me as well.
