FB length for 6GT

.120 & .170 are freebore options for 6GT. Alpha munitions told me .120 is for 105gr Berger, and if I plan to shoot Hornady or Sierra then use .170.

What is your experience? Does the 109 Berger work in a .120 or does it require a .170?

All of mine are 120s. It works with 105s and DTACs. Is it optimal for DTAC? Probably not, but it works fine.

I would opt for the 0.120. My Dasher is 0.135 and works well for the DTACs and 115 Bergers. 0.170 seems excessive.

.120 is what my barrels have been chambered for and works with everything up to Barnes 112 MB's, if you plan to use the 115 DTAC's that would require a longer freebore

My new Brux 26 inch 1-7.5 twist is a .120 I am using Dtac exclusively with 6.5 Staball set .020 off and it shoots bug holes. My smith is a champion F-class shooter and it was his recommendation. Did a little shooting 108 eldm same .020 off and the same bug holes.

Also your barrel will ware and then you will have room to seat to same .020 off if you take an extra .050 out with the reamer thats a lot of lost metal

Link Very interested to see how these perform. Seems Berger has an improved method of forming the meplat to make the BC more consistent. Wonder if they will incorporate that on all their bullets?

I’d have a Reamer made specifically for the Lapua.

Actually, I AM having a Reamer made specifically for the Lapua.

There’s no telling what we are going to get for neck diameter and .200 line. Best to hold off, in my opinion. The day my brass gets here, I’ll send dummy rounds to JGS.
