6GT — New Cartridge, Alpha Brass

It looks like the 6 x 44 that Mike Niblett and Jerry Powers was putting together. They had called there version the 6PNC.
FWIW,
Vern

I think this is going to do pretty well in PRS, and it was mainly designed around the needs of PRS shooters.

Feeds w/o mag modification
Brass that you don't have to fireform, cheaper, and therefore don't have to worry about losing at a match
Better barrel life than 6x47/Creed
Uses Varget, much easier to source than H4350
Still on the lighter recoil side of the fence.

I still like my 6BRA but if I were recommending a caliber to a new PRS shooter this may end up near the top of the list. Dasher-ish performance without Dasher hassles.

GA Precision show them as out of stock on their website, but PTG are making them...I'm going to try and get one sent to Australia.
I’ll keep an eye on your results...If you start trancing everyone with it I’ll be ordering a reamer to ;)

The originals were made from the 47 case. Alpha is making this brass for GAP. Dies will be available. It really does fall right in between a dasher and 6-47. 35 grains of Varget or so. Check with GAP for more info. I do think its worth trying in BR with the 110-115s.

David Tubb 6xc with small primer Peterson brass. Designed and tested with H4350 and 115 DTACs. No one will touch them for BR.... After shooting them at 1100 yards and was shooting maybe 1/8 MOA (not a joke at all) a 115 DTAC at 3200 FPS I wonder why. I do not play that game I assumed recoil, bu this is so close, I don't see the point.

Sounds to me like a cartridge my friend Roger Gower and gunsmith Bob Brackney came up with back in the eighties to compete in the (score) hunter class with called the 6X44. In those days the case was formed from Remington .308 cases with a small primer pocket that were made to form Jim Steckel's original BR's from. It was a good design and Roger won two IBS national championships with it.

Well my view personally I commend the efforts that Tom Jacobs has made for this cartridge good or bad for the class of shooters it might be the cats meow I like playing with the cartridges we have trying to improve upon the original sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but my hat's off to him to try.

Well yes, back in the eighties, the brass forming was a labor of love and required a complete set of forming dies, not to mention that old brass was a little, shall we say (lacking). Proper annealing was also imperative. I really believe that with the consistent Lapua 6.5x47 Brass and a lot less working of the brass to get a formed case that this cartridge will be a real winner, especially at 600yds and well with Toms bullets it should really prove to be extremely competitive. My first cell phone was the size of a world war 2 Walkie talkie and dropped calls constantly. Now it fits in my shirt pocket, is clearer than my land line and has more computing power than NASA had to put the first man on the moon. Never stop trying to improve upon a good design, nobody really cares what it's called as long as it's better than it's predecessor.
