600 yard Registered IBS matches at the Manatee

Great shoot .
Congratulations to Richard Prince
It was his first time shooting 600 yd paper . I had no idea you couldn't count to 5 .
So he ended DQ on the first target. Target 2 he had small for the shoot and small in the 4th.
Richard your Fired
I loaded you 43 bullets and you returned the gun and I had 9 bullets left .
Great job . I don't know anyone who can take a gun sighted in at 1000 . And have that results .
Not only has the club got a new shooter .
We got a great person and a hard worker.
Thank you're friend Larry
Yes Larry, I think we added a great member to the local group. Thank you. I set him up with all he needs to try and do it on his own. With a little coaching he will do fine.

Embarrassed. Now the public can see just how awful I shot. Hope it's motivation for improvement, especially the change of bullet lot that I blame for destroying my last two targets. Hate to think the results are discouragement for the future.

Gusting high winds during the shoot made for some nasty horizontal groups. Hoping future matches have more shooters and better results.

Thats what its about, getting better. It wouldn't be fun if you won every time. Or maybe it would? Did you get those Vapor trails ordered?

No Vapor Trails for me.

Looked on their website. There is no mention of how to find out what they cost, what is available, who sells them and how to buy them if you could figure out what they cost. I actually formed the impression they do not really want the average "Joe" to buy their bullets so they keep information off the site. Guess you have to know them and be on the "in" list.

Only problem I had in getting a 1000 VTs is the long wait. Just get on the list and wait. Not that expensive. I shoot them right out of the box. No sorting, trimming and re-pointing. I may sort in other ways, but otherwise great projectiles:D We all shot poorly. Conditions were poor. Posting the scores was a good intro into the future. All future registered scores will be on the internet for all to see the good and bad.

Just give me a call or email us, it is listed on the website. My wife and I are not computer prople and really dont have alot of time to develop the website at this moment, i hope to make it better in the future.

As for the average joe statement, you are totally incorrect, i have average joes all over the globe using them.
Since it is not on the website ill clarify here, all of our bullets are 550.00/1000, .55 cents each. There is a waiting list, fairly simple , give me your phone number ill call when i get close to your name.

Sorry our website is not up to standards!

I have really upped my game with using the VTs. Yes, it took a while to get and I will have to re-order soon. Have about 500 left, but that will not be enough for the 2017 - 2018 season. I have shot the 103s in a Dasher and a BRA always seemed to group better than brand B. Not always, but enough to make a difference. Did not shoot them yesterday, trying an old Dasher HG barrel that looks like it is ready for the "old barrel" barrel.;)

Im looking forward to coming down for a match, pretty sure this winter is out, i need to keep making bullets at the present.
Next winter, the wife and i will have to make this a must do.

I think in time this is going to be a homerun for manatee!

Thanks Tom for the kind words of encouragement.

If these matches are well attended, we will be working more closely with the IBS to coordinate our matches with a circuit in mind later in 2018.

Now get back to the presses! Heard you have a new die and they are shooting just as well if not better than the last, true?

Just got off the phone with David Matthews. We discussed how the practice matches are proceeding and I was pleased to report that any last minute issues now seem small. One point we did discuss in more detail is the difference between the sighter berm and the 600 yard target line. It is about 25 yards and for most it is about 1/2 moa difference, but that can vary with conditions and cartridge used. We discussed the use of 16x16" painted steel plates mounted between the target stands as sighting targets. Bullet splatter shows up easily at 600 yards. Other ranges use this method and Manatee has been shooting steel for well over 10 years, so we know the drill. I will discuss it with the Manatee Board to see if it would be possible for us to do that and also minimize any risk of bullet ricochets. Anyone out there have a better solution? Steve

Steel away from the backstop by 25-30 yards is not safe. Too much chance for splatter and ricochet up and over the berm into the park. Some splatter might even punch through a target showing a hole in the target.

Think a splatter (shoot-n-see type) target would be visible to near all shooters using quality scopes. Only issue with anything there is you may block usage of the berm for clay bird sight-in targets.

Hear you all about the Vapor Trails. Right now psyched for both hunting season and local flat track motorcycle racing. Grouper will start hitting in both Bay and Gulf. Going to find it hard to make time and effort for target shooting in the short term.
