I m starting a new set up (300 N AW) with a trainer option in a 6 GT but need some advice on a repeater action to handle both , what do you think about Pierce Ingenier one ? Will definitely go with 2 bolts, don t want any action with bolt with face replaceable stuff style

In my opinion, that has BAD idea written all over it with a repeater.

The 300 NMI utilizes a big heavy Lapua size action which requires a long/wide magazine cut. The 6GT has no business being built on the same platform.

I agree, I think getting a gt to feed might be an issue. You would definitely have to use a dbm. So you going to be trying to feed from a 30-06 mag. Never tried it so I dont know. On the subject of a trainer rifle, what are you trying to get out of it? You wont be able to compare ballistics so all your going to get is trigger time. To be honest I think you would get more out of shooting your 300nmi less than shooting the gt more. You need the real recoil and real ballistics to get better with it in my opinion. Just for trigger time and keeping up your fundamentals, a rimfire is hard to beat. They expose more of your mistakes than a centerfire because the bullet is in the barrel for so long.

Alex i have said this forever that a 22 rimfire is the best trigger time there is.
Nothing better than the days of 4.00 a brick 22LR ammo and a good sage rat patch with a 10-22.

According to the JBM calculator:
My load with 220gr Berger LR Hybrid at 3200 fps fired at an elevation of 3000 ft enters the transonic zone a little after 2200 yards

What reamer/FB did you go with (2.075”)? And what is your COAL with the 245s and 0.010” jump. I’ve got a max COAL/Magazine 3.810” so trying to figure out best way to go on FB. Are you having to chase the lands at all?

I was going to run 250 ATIPs as they seem to love to jump as high as 0.150”. So set it and forget about throat erosion. But sounds like the ATIPs are having issues. And Bergers seem to have a much narrower jump window to plan for. Thanks!

Just use same data as 230gr Berger and always start low before working up and watching for pressure.

I’ve shot the 230gr Berger, 230gr Sierra MK, and Hornady 225gr ELD Match with all the same load levels of N570. Little difference in peak pressure points

Depends on your chamber cut. Most of the improved’s should have a pretty similar cut, but best to know the reamer drawing.

My chamber cut is 2.5020”. I like to run my brass around .030” short so I trim to an even 2.470”

That might be too close, especially on a big magnum. Flirting with possible pressure spikes. A lot of manuals say you can go up to .010” away from the chamber length, but I don’t get closer than .020” away on anything. Just my personal preference and opinion

Most of mine are 2.475 to 2.480 still newer haven't had to trim yet. Makes sense thank you

Yeah if you pick a number and keep them all trimmed to a length within that 2.475-2.480 window you should be fine.

Each piece of brass can grow a little differently, especially if you are testing different pieces with different bullets, powders, levels of powder charge, and seating depths. So if you wanted to wait around for all your brass to grow out to 2.490” to be roughly within .010”, who knows how many firings that would take. Probably quite a few. And of course as I said, I would never want to get that close anyhow.
