Story:
Preset the adjustable mount to 100-MOA at 100yds at my range.
Drove to the location and setup <> James River valley in LaMoure County, ND.
Started out by adding 24 more MOA (124 Total) of Elevation.
Dialed 3-MOA of Left (2.6-MOA for spin drift plus a little for the 6:30 to 7:00 wind).
1st shot splash <> Right and a little High
2nd shot, dialed over and fired, impact was behind the board so we figured it went through.
Fired 4 more and drove down. None on, but splash scraps showed they went over the top, but not by much.
Knowing were close we set up the forward spotter - Keith at 200' forward and left - with a car for a barricade.
Drove back and dropped the elevation and fired <> in the dirt low right (blew dirt on the target board)
8th shot <> dialed up and over <> On - low and right
9th shot <> dialed up and over <> On - center high
Dialed down and ran 5 shots <> results above in pictures
Symmetrical bullet holes that showed good stability

Gun:
6Dasher
700-Rem
Jewel BR
Shehane MBR Tooley
NF 12-42x56 BR
Elevation mount - homemade

What a blast !.!.!....... and don't under estimate a 6Dasher !.!.!

Really awesome Donovan. If anything can be done with the 6 dasher, you're the guy to do it. Very nice pics also.

Nice shooting! Could we see a picture of the mount?

Aaron

Thanks...... The mount is home-made and very "low tech" to say the least !.!.!

Basically it is 2 Key Stocks mounted to a pair of rings with a 3rd Key Stock pivot-pinned between the two.
2 - 1/2" Key Stock <> 5-1/2" in length - mounted to one side each of a pair of scope rings
1 - 3/4 Key Stock <> 6" in length - with a Weaver Scope-rail mounted on top
1 - Roll Pin (front pivot point)
4 - 1/4 Cap Screws (ground points <> used to lock the center pivot stock
1 - Pair of "cheap" Weaver Rings
1 - "cheap" Weaver Rail (+ 4 screws)

Again.... very "low tech"..... but it works, and has served me well (on the low recoiling Dasher any how).

DMorgan

How much farther do you think you can shoot with the bullet velosity that low ?

Great shooting by the way.

Re: 6Dasher - 2001 Yards

Hal & Terry,

Good questions...... and I'm not sure......

The bullets printed very symmetrical holes and accuracy was still good, which tells me they will go further.
The temperature was only 49-F and warmer weather would aid to there capability as well.
Based from the ballistics of the 2000yd, and taking it further the ballistics tells me:
340-fps @ 2250yds <> 406-fps @ 75-F <> 446-fps @ 90-F
255-fps @ 2400yds <> 317-fps @ 75-F <> 355-fps @ 90-F
205-fps @ 2500yds <> 264-fps @ 75-F <> 300-fps @ 90-F
With that and based on the performance had at 2000, I have little doubt 2250yds will be achievable (especially in warmer weather). So I'm thinking to try it to 2400 or 2500 and see (don't know when, just someday).

Re: 6Dasher - 2001 Yards

Tom,

Ya..... I should have used more selective components.
Was more just wanting to make contact and was not thinking or caring of grouping ability that much.
The bullets were left over's from an old Lot and not sorted, trimmed, or pointed.
The brass were some old test brass that seen its better days (loose pockets and inconsistent lengths).
Next time I will use better stuff and load for raw accuracy as well !.!.!

Re: 6Dasher - 2001 Yards

Donovan,
If you use the Hunting VLD you will gain 10 min of elevation @ 2000 yds. Wont have to dial so much!!! Good shooting.

Re: 6Dasher - 2001 Yards

Lonnie,

At least in the Lot's of Targets that I have, I do not see much difference between them and the Hunting's.
About 1-MOA or so difference between the two at 1000 (and if I point the Targets it makes that up).
But either work for me, and really just boils down to the Lot qualities for me.
I can't bring myself to buy the expensive customs.... just keep getting all I can get out of the cheaper VLD's.

See ya at Deep Creek (at least once this summer) !.!.!

Re: 6Dasher - 2000 Yards

THat's crazy!

I've shot mine to 1400 yards but nothing further.

That's absolutely wonderful shooting.

Hey D.

If you are going to shoot 2500 yards with that dasher, you might want to get target paper that is a little thinner!!! ;) At 200 fps, I don't think that you are going to punch all the way through a cardboard target.
