They are excellent optics. I have one on a 45 and love it. No more than my Vortex or ADE just much pricier. Shake Awake is nice for sure.

While sniffing around in research, I found the Holosun 507 Comp. It has a big sight window, which seems desirable. It has a lot of positive reviews. Anybody use it? I’ve “heard” that reviews can be faked.

There is nothing wrong with it, especially for a carry optic.. but, it does NOT have a big window. Its actually kinda small.

I run a DPP on my SiG P320 DH and LOVE it. Super clear/crisp glass and a much bigger window than the 507c.. I have a second DPP arriving tomorrow to replace the 507c with on my 2011..


My DH3 and 2011 are not carry guns. So take that into account.

I have lots of all of the different pistol red dot flavors.. RMR Type2 is my choice for best carry red dot...

I can’t speak to that particular model but I do have a little over a half dozen Holosuns, mostly their 510. I’ve never had issue with their products and I believe they have a good reputation in their service department if ever needed. Shake awake is nice, solar is nice, I opt for manual brightness mode instead of the auto dimming but that’s a personal choice. They are a good choice.

Again, I don't carry them on my defense pistols. I only use it on a pistols I hunt with. I can aquire open sites faster and more effectively for combat shooting scenarios. I don't practice with the RMRs so that's probably the issue with fast aquasition. I shoot them of rests or a bench.

Josh, what bullets are you shooting? My 40 likes Montana Bullet Works 200gr hard cast well, IIRC I'm pushing them 1160 with a factory barrel. I have a 9" Lone Wolf barrel for it but haven't tried it.

I'm still running the factory spring. Did the 22# spring make a noticeable difference

I use Tricon rmr's and recently bought one of these for a sig 322 22lr, Figured cant have an optic worth over double the pistol value! I am travelling so cheat and use some aerosol gun spray to degunk the innards of my glocks that have the triji's. I used the same stuff on my Sig and some of the vapor in the air ate the cr*p out of the front coating on the Holosun. Now looks like I am shooting thru a dirty window.

The heavy spring allowed me to “load up” to higher velocity rounds and not destroy the gun. It works great! It’s my hand that has a problem! I have to do a little more testing with some midrange loads before I load up the 500 new Starline cases I have. I want the speed without so much sting! That 9” barrel sounds interesting! We need a function report on it!

I need to drop it in and do some shooting. I doubt I'd ever carry it with a 9" barrel though. I purchased the 40 for a trip to Idaho a couple years ago to carry hiking and carried it in a Kenali chest holster. The 9" barrel may make it a little slow to get out. LOL

I run my G40 in a Kenai chest holster when riding my dirt bike in grizzly country. It doesn’t interfere with anything and the retention is amazing. I won’t win a bill drill contest with it though but hopefully if I ever need it the griz hasn’t been practicing bill drills either.

Old story here, but just to clarify,
a 507C, and a 507Comp, are two different optics from Holosun.
The 507Comp has a much larger window than the 507C.
Comp has CRS reticle w/8 internal options, C model has MRS reticle w/3 options
The C is more suited to carry, and the Comp is preferred for Competition.

I bought a toy a while back., an Israeil made ' arm brace' for 200 bucks.Put it in my g45 and was nailing 10 in plates about 70% at 200 and close to 100% at 100. If I wanted to hunt with it be priceless. I used a leaning rest, ie pole for the shade at range.

, I’m finding I need a brace to go long. A tree, wall, etc. is what I need to plan to use if I want to shoot at distance, and at what distances I can hit something if I need to.

I put the Recover 20/20 brace on my Glock 34 and it really reduced my group size. Everyone at the range was amazed with my group until the came over and seen I was cheating with the brace.

I have been thinking of getting a Recover 20/21 for my G40 just to see how much it improves shooting longer distances. Plus I need to get a stock end for the G34 as its a SBR now and the stocks/braces can be swapped between the 20/20 and 20/21 models.
