10mm Glock long slide and the 150 yard gong.

Sighting in for a pig hunt, I shot my Glock at the 150 yard pig gong, just for sh$$s and giggles. First ten shots went 8 hits, two misses with a five hits in a row. Second ten went 5 hits out of ten. I put a 22 pound spring and a KKM barrel in it. My reloads are in the 1350 FPS range. Lots of fun when my buddies were saying “ No way!”

Well done , Sir . Have a Glock G22 , .40 cal that I managed a similar feat with several years ago . It was a man-sized "torso" steel target set at 175 yards , and I was "challenged" to hit it at least once out of ten rounds . The first two were in the dirt just feet in front of the target . The next four made that very audible , "DING" of bullet hitting steel . The last four were high and right . The round was 185gr Hornady JHP with 5.2gr of Alliant Red Dot . Four of ten at that distance proves the shot is capable of being made , and closer in is even better . Just because it's a pistol doesn't mean it can't reach out and touch something , or somebody , if need be !

Get an RMR for it and your accuracy will improve to 10 for 10.

Good shooting! The Glock 40 is a Fine pistol. For added versatility and all around cheep practice I swap out to a Lone Wolf 40 S&W barrel.

I’ve been told that before but I’m an old school dinosaur. I shoot pistol with open sights.
I have a 44 Mag S&W 629 with an 8 3/8 barrel and I’ve never thought of putting a scope on it.
I’ve been playing around with shooting pistols at longer distances to push my own mental boundaries of what a pistol can do. When I was younger, I carried my 44 S&W and could hit an 8” plate at 30 yards with ease. Now, I’m finding I need a brace to go long. A tree, wall, etc. is what I need to plan to use if I want to shoot at distance, and at what distances I can hit something if I need to.

I don't care for it when I carry mine for defense as a woods gun but I really like it for precision shooting (if there's such a thing with a semi auto combat pistol). Puts them in a 1.5" group at 50 yards. I mounted the RMR and sighted it in with 180 FMJs. Then shot some BB 220 Hardcasts and they grouped close to the best of all ammo I shot thru it. I couldn't carry a 1.5" group with factory sights. About 3-4" was the best I could get.

Ok, you have me thinking. I’m not going to use it as a carry gun and I do like what you’re saying about better accuracy at distance. I might try one. Which do you have or recommend? Also, please elaborate “BB 220 Hardcasts”?

I have a cheaper one on my G20 and a Vortex on my G40. I actually like the cheaper one better. When I say cheaper, it's less expensive. One of my duty partners recommended it and he uses the same ones his duty pistols. He said they hold up and are very dependable. I have less than $150 in it.

While sniffing around in research, I found the Holosun 507 Comp. It has a big sight window, which seems desirable. It has a lot of positive reviews. Anybody use it? I’ve “heard” that reviews can be faked.

My backwoods carry while fishing is a G40 with RMR06 and full match fit BarSto barrel with my 200gr Montana Gold Hard Cast loads.. 1228 out of my gun and very accurate.. they are about 20fps faster, much lower single digit SD's and better accuracy than Underwood 200gr HC factory ammo

I also run them in my DW Bruin which is crazy accurate and a favorite to shoot but I prefer to carry the G40 for the added capacity..

8gr Longshot
Starline nickel
CCI LPP
200gr MG HC-GC
1228
SD 1.5 / ES 4

They are excellent optics. I have one on a 45 and love it. No more than my Vortex or ADE just much pricier. Shake Awake is nice for sure.
