10mm Auto and Blue Dot ?

I have a Glock 20 with KKM barrel standard length and 22 pound spring

My Components ;

Blue Dot powder
CCI 300 Large Pistol Primers
Starline Brass
200 Gr XTP Hornady
Lee Factory Crimp Die

I would like to get to the Norma original load of 1200 FPS with Blue Dot any suggestions?

Maybe try 2400 , instead ? I load my Glock G22 , 40 with 2400 behind a 185 JHP . Just slightly lower than a 10mm load , and it works very well .

Get a Hornady reloading manual, they have Data for Bluedot listed.
My advice is to use the components as listed as least to primer and powder. I only took a quick look and didn't see what brass or primer Hornady used, probably Hornady brass.

I made up a .38 Super load with titeGroup which I have used before, Starline brass, WSP, but used R-P brass and CCI SP and it flattened out the primers.

All manuals are watered down FBI loads I need real 10mm data !
The powder charges don’t match the velocities.
As the Hornady Manual 9.4 Blue Dot Max in 10mm with 200gr is not even close to being max. It’s a hot 40 SW load at best in G20.

You could get 1100 fps with Blue Dot and 200 gr jacketed bullets, but 1200 is well beyond a maximum load.

so another vote for acc #9. blue dot was too flaky to measure well.
i went with a lighter bullet going faster,,,
how long have i been around 10mm ???? i have some of the "165"(actually 170 ) norma bullets
maybe power pistol

Are they?

Most cheap practice ammo you buy at like academy is basically.40 cal.... If you want real full power ten mil... You will have to look at a few manufacturers...
I found several loads rated @ around or slightly over 1200 fps without even trying, now granted they weren't with a 200 grain XTP or Bluedot.
Yes, if you want 10mm ballistics you need to buy premium ammo.
I chronographed some Winchester Silvertip 10mm some years back and it actually recorded what it was advertised at.

I cannot get enough Blue Dot to fit in 10mm under a 200 gr bullet.
Max published 8.9 gr
Max fit 13.25 gr.... still wimpy in Bar Sto barrel

For max power I use 800X, but it does not meter. Max practical is Power Pistol

No 1200 fps is the original load for the 10mm in 5” by Norma .
As for metering
I don’t know why reloaders use those RCBS uniflow type powder measures never could get mine to measure the same load twice after checking on 10-10 scale . Went to the RCBS Chargemaster and kept my 10-10 scale as backup. Works great !
This G20 is for bear protection 200 Gr XTP not humans.
For humans 170gr Nosler HP
Yes 800x is a great powder in 10mm used it for years heard they stop making it and Yes weighted every round on my 10-10 scale
Yes those Silvertips were nice in my 1006 back in the early 90’s. WInchester has watered down everything since.

It’s all I have Blue Dot and can get ! With BD 200gr XTP looks like I am dead on !
Thank you very much !
I have had a pound BD for several years and thought I would put it to use. I ran out of 800x and unable to find anymore. I heard they are going stop production of 800X. My 9.4 load of 800x was excellent with the 200gr XTP.

Norma bullets 170gr I like ! I do have a box of Nosler 170gr HP very close !
You get these up too real 10mm Vel like Norma did and their lethal. Performance kinda like a good 357 mag and 125gr. I use a RCBS Chargemaster on every load works great with 800x type powder. Me I sold Crockett his 1006 for Miami vice been with the 10mm since the beginning 1006 / Kimber / now on my 3rd Glock G20 since introduction . My eyes are going bad now just point and hope I hit something !
