100 yd CHALLENGE, 4 groups of 5 shots

I will have to slightly modify the rules as I'm short on Berger Bullets. I'll enter with 3-5 shot groups. Hopefully will have the target up in a couple days when I figure it out! ;D

I just hate to see someone attacked for trying to get a friendly competition going by people who can't take the time to read what he is saying before launching into a hundred reasons why his ideas suck.

I personally do not know Lazer, but I will defend anyone in his situation.

He kinda called us out back on pg3 or so. There seems to be an amendment to the rules. So I'm not feeling to bad. Maybe you should read the entire thread

Kinda got me motivated to participate

As a matter of fact I'm so tired of arguing w the benchrest guys lets just make it a shoot at 100yds, I think you will see with your heavy guns, adjustable rest, and accomadating ranges, your gonna have trouble beating some of the hard core tactical guys that have less advantage.
(God if that doesn't get you motivated what does)

So I'll get things started off. I'm not afraid. Hell, I'll Even do it with my plane jane, .25-06 Remington with a $100 3-9x40 Redfield Tracker in Warne rings.

Sure he called you out at post 21. When 15 of the previous posts were about how stupid his idea was and were crying about nonexistent rules. Sure if that's what you want to believe go for it.

I am out of the way. Made my possibly illegal submission let the games proceed

Somehow you have taken this challenge as a personal insult, and as such you have taken to attacking the OP and me for defending him.

I would defend you if the roles were reversed.

My only point is: Let the guy run a friendly competition for those that want to enter. If you don't want to play that's fine, but don't berate the guy because you don't want to do what he wants to do.

Even tho I will be disqualified and am not a part of the competition. I may slip in a post of a set of targets from my 10.5 lb LV rig just so you guys will understand why we don't care to shoot 100 yd groups with our hunting rifles

These were shot the same day in relay competion at Riverbend NBRSA match this past spring

So now we have the first entry. Who's next ???

Hey Tim

Great Shooting! I believe your avg would be 0.187 thats how it ran at the hide. The avg of the 5, 5 shot group was how the placement was done. The guy running it used a measuring app or something like it to measure group size. You had to include a quarter or caliper in the picture so he had a size reference. He then measured all the groups added it up and averaged the group size.

Hope that helps!

Target from my newest hunting rifle top group was first 5 shots and bottom group was the next 45 shots
shot this while fireforming brass for the AI chamber.

This was my last entry into the 100 yd challenge same rifle as above

This is the rifle and how it was shot

Great Shooting,

Rose

I will contribute a group target. 4 groups sequential then numbered. Some go right some go tight. Fun shooting anyway.

:-\ At least read the criteria before you start crying.

You can use a bipod.

You can use a rear bag.

You cannot use a 900lb gun set up on a machine rest that removes the shooter from the equation.

Not complicated. If you shoot sling at 600 you have no worries.

How has this gone 4 pages with no one taking the time to actually read the first few posts.

If you cannot shoot unless the rifle and a machine do the actual target acquisition for you then don't enter the competition. It's 100yds not a mile.

At least read the criteria before you start sniveling, and if you don't like the game don't play. It's purely voluntary.

HEY BUD! I did read the first post as it says how many people would be interested in getting a 100 yard challenge going. I read several more and it seemed, there might me some controversy as to the rules. I was looking at several post scaning them. looking at the dates and time of the post. it seemed interesting. but nowhere did it say we started the challenge. start date, end date. ect ect. I was never at all crying that's just your immature piss head attitude coming out. I asked a few simple questions and even stated I did not read every post thoroughly. All someone needed to say was see post example(#1) that is the rules we are using.. and no front rest. yes handload are ok. yes you can shoot a 6ppc,just no front rest. all I did was ask a few question for clairfaction and I get attacked. I really allways shoot off a front rest even hunting rifles. for load work up,trying to get as steady as possible. I only shoot off bi pod in the field. But it's not a problem I just wont shoot in it. no big deal.

How are any of these to be measured?

Aloha Tim,

Heres an example of how it was done

my_group_100_shootout.jpg

For this last challenge it was changed from 6 5-shot groups to 3 5-shot groups and 5 bullseye shots only one round shot per bullseye. The largest one would represent your fourth and final group for average. So as you can see on my target above my avg was taken from the 3 5-shot groups on the top and the largest "group" per se on the bottom. Add those all up and divide by four and you got your avg and thats how the leaderboards were listed by lowest group avg.

Hope that helped, I just started to participate so I dont know everything. I dont know if anyone has the software to measure the submitted targets or not. On the hide the guy who ran it did all of that all you did was shoot within the guidelines given and submit your target. He would measure it score it and repost it as well as enter the shooters position on the board.

Aloha

Haven't looked at this thread in a while, I didn't think it was gonna get the support. But looks like that's changed! There's some good shooting and legit entries. 20-25 shot entries look to be getting the most support, Also keep them all on one target. No cherry picking or posting single groups, there seems to be some confusion on that. I was just making suggestions on getting this going, again I do not want to organize it. Thanks to the supporters! Hope to get an entry up by the weekend.

OK, I'll play. Was fireforming some brass and getting some chronographing done and noticed that I had exactly 25 round to do and I remembered this thread so I thought, what the heck. I hope to do better, but this is what I've got right now. Since I was out in the country, I guessed 100 yds but Google Earth tells me 136 yds, and hopefully that's OK since I'll use 100 yds for MOA calc and just penalize myself. Rifle is a Savage PTA action with a 30 in Bartlien 223 1:7 chambered for 90VLDs but was shooting 80VLDS. Ave = 0.573.
