How would you decipher these drains? They aren't (yet connected) to anything, but they obviously had something in mind.

I'm assuming gravel pit on the left was for a main water line.


#2 is (obviously) for a toilet.
#3 - Shower?

Back to plumbing... Did some digging.

4 - WTF

Also a guess, that the small pit with no plumbing would have been a sink? Perhaps a sink outside of the bathroom? But no plumbing there...

Looks like you're cross-furring with 1x4's on the flat?
Consider using 20 ga. DWC (hat channel) instead. Far more rigid, won't flex in the middle like the 1x's will over that long a span.

2x4's. Pretty common practice for post-frames.

Showed it to a plumber. He said the same thing. He also said the vents are installed wrong; tear it all out and start over. Which I'm fine with. I dont know or like what's going on here

#4, vent for the toilet? Remove the caps from #2 and #4 and run a fish tape down 4 and watch for it in #2

High Bay lights aren't suitable for your application. Ceiling/roof deck isn't high enough, we typically use these for applications 20 ft or more in height.

Low Bay lighting is for lower mounting heights, typically in the 12' to 20' range where the High Bays pick up above that.

There's an absolutely dizzying array of LED lighting styles available these days. Consider whether you want machine-specific task lighting, general lighting (equal lumens throughout) or combination?

I’d want to be in a shop with the hexagon before I went to them. I’d think it could reduce the shadows and that could be a positive. But I have zero experience…my shop has the halogen tube lights that about every quarter I threaten to jerk out lol

I know detail shops love them. I'm going to order a "one car" sized kit, and one of the low bay lights and see what I like. If the hex lights aren't for the shop, I can put them in the garage.

I got some 2x2ft flat led lights at homedepot that are nice in a lower ceiling. Old style floro tubes are great to begin but get dimmer over time.

Aaron: I went to Lowe’s or home depot and found some new LED strip lights. I got the maximum lumens they had and they’re nice. They’re also fairly cheap. I put them up in both my shops. They tie together to make strips as long as you want. I was impressed at how much light they put out.

Don't skimp on lighting, I wish I would have put 6 more lights in, I put 12. It's pretty bright, But not enough to my liking.

Machines are home. My blood pressure is about 20 points lower.
