Is that note .108 jump from touching>?
Lol YES! It is a 220 Swift AI that I built on a Win 70 L/A
The main bullet it shoots is the long 85.5 Berger
But JLK's are some awesome bullets (back in the day anyway)
So .108" off the lands is where they ended up being
(Used same comparator seating depth as the 85.5's) since I could not poke them out far enough to touch the lands and still be in the neck.
This should also prove that once a seating depth is found on the Ogive...
...that seating by measuring where the Ogive touches using any other bullet should be seated to this same meaurement.

Funny when I shot that group testing, some old man was at the range and said
"You only hit the paper once?"
I just looked at him and shook my head and packed up and din't even stop to explain.
(I shot my test group and it shot well so was done anyway)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have some good info where Berger conducted some seating depth testing and found there can be more than 1 node ....within about a 0.140" window
Meaning anywhere from touching to 0.140" off the lands, this test proved that to me as well
but I try to stay within .040" off or closer...or even jammed if I can
it's just too weird a concept for me to seat a bullet that far off.
But, it can be done I guess if there is no other option such as in this case (bullet too short for the freebore)
I have no other gun that can shoot the JLK 65's so figured I'd test them in this rig.
And I am not gonna waste that kind of bullet in an AR
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a 3 shot test group at 580 yds with 85.5 Bergers (1.25")
I have used this gun to teach people how to shoot at 600, like 13 yr old girls even
Just to boost their confidence and show them it's possible, they hit every time.
I also use it to let my buddies make first round hits at 600, to show them its their equipment why they cant hit, not so much the shooter. Then they start to understand where they need to put their money.
Starting with the barrel first.
It likes the 80 JLK's Juuuuust a touch better, but the berger 85.5 is the only bullet that shot close enough and was almost interchangeable.
