$50 Mitutoyo calipers at Wal Mart

Honestly, I've never owned a pair of micrometer but I can see what you're saying about calipers being more of a comparator. They work well enough for me and my shooting discipline.
I have calipers I bought at Harbor Freight. They are cheap Chinese imports and work fine for things I'm not measuring out under .002".
Not saying they aren't capable of measuring that. Just saying that if I'm concerned about .001" or less, I get out the appropriate micrometer.

I had a pair of layman's that lasted me about 12 years. They were $30 but now I think it's time to upgrade.

Did the Wal Mart general office move from Bentonville?
No, that ones on me. They just lately built a new headquarters just 2 miles from the original 1st store, actually it's more like a town, huge thing. Guess I had chickens on my old brain when I typed that, Tyson's headquarters is in Springdale. 1st mistake I've made in the last 10 minutes......John:rolleyes:

If it’s a fake you could maybe prove that by sending the serial no. to Mitutoyo, then ask for a refund from Wally (false advertising?). The model number looks legit.

I just want to know if this is legitimate. Or does mitutoyo make "cheap" calipers they sell at Walmart.

I also want to know if you think these are genuine or fakes. It's sold by home easy via Walmart. Seems too good to be true.

Walmart 6" Mitutoyo calipers
A new 4" Mitutoya vernier caliper sells for $159. It's non-digital vernier. Go to a genuine Mitutoya website to get the real price. The Walmart mic must be an imitation. I have a Mitutoya 1" tube mic it list for $159.

Good luck waiting for your refund from a Chinese operation…
You MAY get a reply telling you to return it to them in China and they will process your refund in due time…. About the 12th of Never.
I've returned many ordered online items to Walmart, all ship to store, never a problem. When you buy something from Walmart and return it to Walmart , China has nothing to do with it.

The reason I'm asking is because my calipers crapped out and I need a new pair.

Someone local has a pair of Starretts 120s for sale. Supposedly unused. Maybe someone here can date them. I can't tell they're vintage.

These calipers are NOT unused. The indicator needle has skipped a couple teeth as shown by the"zero" being at 9:00 rather than 12:00. A chip or some kind of debris got into the teeth of the frame and the lower jaw caused the indicator to jump that tooth or teeth.
