Whats after 30-06?

I ve heard Ron Spomer outdoors do an episode about the 270. He said the same thing..i always thought the 270 is kind of a womans hunting cartridge..hahaha..gentle and sleek for her pleasure but im looking for that .30 cal slam.
I dont need a 300ultra mag..i dont even need a 300win mag..
But is there a .30 cal cartridge that fills the power level between the 30-06 and 300win mag
Im not sure what it would be.
If the 30-06 has a case capacity of 68gr.
300win mag is approximately 91gr of case capacity.
What 30cal case holds about 80gr of case capacity. Is there one

And no way an i getting involved with a 338..that has to be the most expensive bullet made..and i dont live near anything i need a 338 to put down.
Again, 300 wsm is your round

If you need more power than the 30-06 has to offer, than you need A LOT more power.
My 30-06 did very well in SA this past year.
That's why I bought a 700BDL in 338WM. The fact I was being reassigned to Galena AS, AK and the rifle had only been fired 5 times since new and owner offered it to me for $300 made it one of those, 'can't get my wallet out of my pocket fast enough' deals.

I'm a 7mm fanboy, have been since late 70s, 7-08, 7RM, 7BR. Gave my son a 280 for Christmas his Jr year in HS. If I were to buy or build another, it would be 280AI.
It's a impressive cartridge.
I can't speak for all 280AI's but when I achieved Barnes velocity with 2gr less powder and 2" shorter barrel pushing a 140gr bullet I backed off a half grain.
Still clocking 3125 average for 5 shots

I Progressed from, a .30-06 to, a .270 Weatherby to, a .338 Win Mag then Back again, to, a .270 WSM .
The .270 WSM just "Stomp's" chit with, a 140 Berg Classic hunter @ close to,.. 3,200 FPS ( and NO Belt ).
Reasonable Recoil and even BETTER,.. if Braked ! My Last Rifle was, a T-3 Lite ( NON - Fluted ) SS Tikka Lefty in .270 WSM ( Just gave it to, my grandson during the Summer and he killed, a Buck Antelope with it, in October ).
It's Braked Now and he can Shoot it, All Day Long with,. NO, problem at 14 y/o.
IF, you want, a .30 Magnum go with the .300 WSM, as VERY Accurate Cartridge, JUST Be sure to, put a Brake on, it !
Tikka's, are very Light and the Recoil from, the .300 WSM can Be, fierce,.. off the Bench.
PS; I shoot, a 6.5 Creed, Now, in another, Braked Tikka, 24" SS, Lefty ( It's a Blast with, very, LOW Recoil ! )
Last weekend I put 32 rounds of 116gr Absolute Hammers thru my 270 WSM with zero hint of shoulder discomfort. Doing load development and gonna continue going up in powder for the RL15.5 and RL16, and add RL26 into the mix on the next trip to the range, but here's my max numbers to date:

H4350 3529 fps, pressure signs at 3593
N550 3573 fps, pressure signs at 3674
RL15.5 3530 fps, no pressure signs yet
RL16 3522 fps, no pressure signs yet

I did look it up. And it looks like what a few of you have already said.
The 300WSM it the .30 cal. case in the middle. With around 81 grain case capacity .
But that case!..i dont like it..its clunky..
Well chit,.. We can't PLEASE,... Everybody !
It's Your "pick",.. anyway !
If I was "Stuck" with, ONE Cart., the .30-06 ( or. the "clunky" .300 WSM ) Cartridge would Be,.. Fine.
And I, actually PREFER,. the 7 MM's personally ! ( Like, the 7 SAUM- 7MM PRC, 7MM Rem Mag,.."Class" of, Cart's )
Ahhh,.. Good Luck with,. YOUR,. Choice !

The 300 H&H. It was originally billed as Holland's Super 30 showing about 100-200fps. advantage over the 06 with like weight bullets.

That was 100 yrs ago this coming June I believe. The Brits were still using Cordite strips & 4064 was the slowest powder that Dupont produced.
I have one of each.

I just came in, off the Rolling High Desert ( by mid afternoon, Cold 30's with, 7 to 10 MPH, Winds ! )
Shot my 6.5 Creed ( Checked Zero ) and Made, a First Round Hit on, a 11" Plate at, 710 Yards,..
And 4 more, in a Row, so felt pretty good for, an old guy Lookin' 78 yrs old, square in the Eye,.. SOON !
Wind had Died down, a Bit by evening just before Sunset,. so Hold-Off was, cut in Half !
15 MOA of Elevation on, the 130 gr. Creed. ammo to, center punch, the steel Plate, Pew,..... "Ting"
THEN,.. my son shot his Tikka w/ 24" Proof barrel, 7 PRC,.. Boom/ SPLAT !!!
OMG,.. WHAT, a Rifle ! His New Load drives, 180 gr. ELD-M's @ 3,015 fps, Average Vel. into, 1/2 MOA, group's with, RamShot Grand ! If I was, 5 or, 10 years, Younger, I'd be Building me, a 7 SAUM or, 7 PRC for, SURE !
PS ; High BC, 7 mm Bullets, No Belt Case w/ Nice Long Neck, Well designed, by Hornady ( YUP,. it's, THAT,. "Good" ! )
