This was a stand coyote rifle. Probably 98% cold bore shots. I had it set back around 1900 ish. rounds. For a group queen yup probably 900-1100 rounds. And the Barrel ? 900 maybe?

That 105 at 3400+ creates a very strong attraction.I have shot every half ass normal 6mm cartridge, and my favorites are 6mm BR, 6 GT and 6-284. The 6-284 is certainly the point of diminishing returns for whiz bang enthusiasm.
I'm thinking about 800-1'000 rds before a new barrel... Seriously overbore but, HEY!Go big or go home!

"Speed cost Money... HOW Fast do you want to go?"
No the the 6/284 is a hoot.I'll stand my ground on the 6-284. 50 rounds to get a sub-1/4moa load at 100 yards. In my rotation, it'll get 200-250 rounds in a year. Four hot rod rifles, and the trusty 223 for close range work. I will rotate the battery. I may even leave the 223 at home and take my custom Borchardt 25-35 for the close stuff. It groups a bit under an inch at 100, and about 2 1/2" at 300. I am very blessed.
My lovely bride bought me a Vortex Impact 4000 for a late Christmas present. I have reached Nirvana!

Pardon my lack of knowledge; but what case is the 6UM based on?
When I had my 240 re barreled 2 years ago, I had a 7.5 twist Krieger screwed on and wouldn't change a thing.I just popped onto Weatherby's website and they are saying they are 1-7.5 now. It was one of them backcountry Rifles. It was really nice and shot well. A 240 in 1-7.5 is interesting. It’s very cool.
Curious what powder you like with the 70- 80 gr bullets? I ve had my 240 for about 15 years but have only used imr 4350 and imr 4831 in it with limited testing. I am having a hard time finding brass as well.Speed sells and I'm buying!
I'm not loading varmint bullets in my 240 wby right now but I'm shooting the Barnes 80 gr TTSX @ 3725 fps
Bang flop!
The 70 - 75 gr loads pushed faster make stuff explode...
Krieger makes new barrels every day![]()
The 70-75 grain varmint bullets shot good for me with IMR 4350 & H4831. That was out of my old barrel. Shooting the 7.5 twist KriegerCurious what powder you like with the 70- 80 gr bullets?
