Recoil lug bedding problem

As a former Gunsmith that has, Bedded, a couple of, Hundred Rifles, in my 25+ years,. File Lug to, a slight TAPER, Sand Smooth and Mike it, Carefully, then, lightly Radius the Edges of, the "Lug" so it's NOT, Sharp.
Use the Kiwi shoe Polish ( 2 Coats ) and the Pro-Bed 2000,.. Sorry, but, I DIDN'T care for it and, I would NOT, use it, again. I USE, Marine Tex or, Brownell's AcraGlass. Tape the Bottom of lug with 1 to 2 layers of Tape and One strip, across the Front of, Lug. I Bed about, 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches of, the Bbl's, SHANK portion to "support", the Barrel ( and this keeps, the Action, Nice and stiff ) . I "Free Float" bbl ( using Tape ) the rest of, the Barrel, I use, One Layer of Electrical Tape ( 2 Strips, centered, down, the middle of, the Barrel's Bottom ), then Cover the Elect Tape with, One Layer of, a Good, Duct Tape, over that ( This usually create's ENOUGH of, a Free Float, "Gap" ) But more can Be removed if, Necessary with, a bbl Rasp. ( You DON'T want, barrel to, Hit stock, upon firing, rifle ! ).
Grease up with, 2 coats of, the Kiwi polish, over All, of, the Tape on, the Lug, Barrel and, the Bare Action, Mix up Glass, press in, holes/ slots and spread, slowly,.. DONE !
It will come Out of Stock, Easy and, the Rifle will Be, very Accurate If, done, this way ( Providing, a GOOD, Barrel )

Ok! I musta missed that one. Now I’m a little ticked at these guys and their “vague” answers. They mention Pam cooking spray but don’t specify which one! There’s Butter flavored, Olive oil, High Temp, Lo calorie. How we gonna learn anything?
Call me dumber than a box of rocks, but I've never understood the infatuation with using some of the stuff people use as a release agent. I've redone several where the bad results were directly related to a 'release agent' that leeched $#!t into the bedding compound.

There's never enough time to do it right in the first place but there's always time to redo it.....o_O

What do you use for a release agent?

Kiwi Natural shoe polish is all I ever used. Apply one coat, let it dry, buff it off, apply a second coat to make sure I didn't miss a spot.

Never had one stick yet. But I have always mic'ed the lug to check for a reverse taper and checked it with a machinist's square against the action.

I do not take take anything for granted because if I've learned anything about life it's assumption is the Mother of all screw-ups.

I'm far from being a Pro, more like a rank amateur but I done a few bedding jobs on my stuff. I've used all the above mentioned release agents and some work pretty good and some not so good. Lately I use Marine Tex and Johnson's floor polish. Either it works really good or I've been real lucky but my bedding jobs are looking good for a dining room table Bubba gunsmith. And NO I won't bed your rifle. :)

When I built molds for cast stone production, we made wood, Azek (PVC board), and polyurethane molds. We used this on the polyurethane, and occasionally on the PVC. I used it as a release for beading and got hooked on it. https://stonermolding.com/products/mold-releases
I used that product years ago , when casting rock faces , cliffs and other terrain features for the stupidly massive H-O Layout I had when my Boys were growing up .

When it comes to release agent for a rifle , I use the old stand-by of Kiwi Natural , but I also do something a bit different . I use Car Painters Masking Tape . The heavier stuff , and have never had a problem using it . They also pop right apart with just a single hit or two .
