Tack Driver 5

We still have a full field with 20+ people on the waiting list. Please PM me if you will not be able to attend this year's event. We are 102 days away from some great memories and a very competitive group of shooters from all over the country. Hope to see you all soon. JC

I’d love to attend Tack Driver one of these years. I hear nothing but great stuff about this match. It would be awesome to meet and shoot with some of the best in the country.

My way of describing The Tack Driver is hours and hours of fun mixed with 70 minutes of pure terror and anxiety :)

We are just 81 days away from the match of a lifetime! Thank you to all the sponsors who have helped make this event what it is today. We are still at 120 shooters and 18 people waiting to get the call that I have them a spot. T-Shirts are coming along and the gun raffle is well started. Feel free to PM me about where you can get tickets to win this great prize package. Thanks JC

Now that the Score Nationals are out of the way, I will be spending my Range time getting ready for Tack Driver 5.

At this time, I have a choice of my new 6BRA with a 1-12 twist shooting the Barts 80 grn Dominator or the 6PPC I shot last year with my own 68 Grn BT. The simple fact is, I have got to shoot faster in the Group Matches. I can shoot my drop port 6PPC Farley, faster than the R/L/R Bat Nuevo In 6BRA.

I might try my own 68 grn double radius BT in the BRA. But the .103 throat might be a problem.

Why have you concluded this?
Because at Orangeburg, at 300 meters, I have found that I simply cannot read the flags well enough to hunt and pick the conditions to shoot groups under 1 inch on a consistent basis during the 7 minutes allowed.
I say under 1 inch because if the bad conditions come in mixed with the infamous Orangeburg mirage, and you stick 5 sub 1” groups down there, with possibly a “slack grabber” at around 6 tenths mixed in, you will be in the hunt.

Here are my group numbers for the last 3 years. You can see where the group sizes were getting smaller, but the ranking was not. People are figuring out how to shoot the Tack Driver.
