Tack Driver IV

Thanks for the replies about the equipment list. If l were to design an equipment list for a match I think "caliber" for be changed to "cartridge". I think most of the guys following the shoot were interested in the cartridges used more then bullet diameter only.
I appreciate Mr. Cline making the effort to produce the equipment list. Last time I tried it I had to go all over the range begging shooters to fill it out, suppling pens to fill it out and having to gather them up. Won't happen again.

thanks

Mike, if you are very astute at reading flags, and know how to shoot fast, a 6PPC shooting 65/68 grn bullets is had to beat.
The first four have been won by a BRA and three 6PPC’s

I guess the consensus is to shoot a 6mm bullet less then 80 grains.
A 6br case hold 6.4 grains of water more then a ppc so they are not drastically different. Maybe I will try some 68 to 80 gr bullets in by 6mm’s and see what they do.

Next issue I have is I shoot left handed and flags set for righty shooters are of no use to me. Is there enough left handed shooters to have a flag rotation set at one bench?
How is this handled currently?
Thanks

To my knowledge, there are no left handed flag sets but i could be wrong. Flags are just set by the shooters on a bench. Some it think collaborate on a set. I have a full five flag set with tall poles for the three far flags. Orangeburg is sort of unique in that the targets are set high on the berm and you truly need poles 12 to 15 feet tall for the far flag. The low number benches require taller poles. Also you rotate ten benches from Saturday to Sunday. We got lucky this year as the bench we were rotating to had a flag setup very similiar to ours. We ised their flags on Sunday while they used ours.

Mike:

I only saw about 4 or 5 other LH shooters this past weekend. Jim may have better stats.

To have a dedicated rotation, assuming 6 relays, you will need 12 LH shooters. I have my doubts you can reach that minimum.

IMO, at these distances, I don't feel there's any disadvantage to shooting over flags set by the RH shooters.

Good luck.

We stack the flags in height so you can see the full daisy of each flag as they get further away from you and closer to the target. Although they have some right handed bias, Kyle is correct. At that distance, it is fairly negligible.
I cant speak for any of the other benches.

And for the record, I still shot poorly!

Kind of puzzling when the near flags are solid orange and the far flags are solid green.

We compromised on our bench, last year and this year. Im right handed and due to an eye injury, I now shoot left handed. We set flags looking from the middle of the bench. My benchmates we're very understanding and all worked well. Although this year wasn't a good showing for any of us, we finished respectable last year. I was able to adapt from right handed shooting to left, I think adapting to a different flag set in minuet. That being said, im not a point blank shooter, maybe a left handed set would spoil me.
I enjoy shooting with my benchmates enough, I'm not willing to sacrifice a flag set with all left hand shooters. If they wanted a right hand set, and not a middle set, I'd deal with it. My chances of winning amongst the talented marksman that attend this match are slim at best. I'd be happy with a top 10 finish.
