Aerospike 300 BLK 146 Lulu adventure begins

I have come to the conclusion that he truly has little, if any, interest in test results.
My offer, if taken, would have started yielding test results as soon as next week.

Strange that people who are willing to help him are ignored and he opts to continue talking and arguing.

To be honest, after seeing the pictures of his product, I am not sure I would want to send then down my barrels.

If it had dimples on it like golf balls I might give it a second thought. Ok, honestly I wouldn't but at least it would be more interesting. If he can prove it out and make a go of it, more power to him.

I started a post on surface finish a few weeks ago that discussed this. It's on my todo list to make some with ridge like surface finish like when something is 3D printed and try those out. It might be cool.

While you're at it take those rough ones and toss them into a rock tumbler until they are smooth. You'll have soup to nuts to try out.

Maybe you should take your own advice and go.
I highly doubt, at this point, anyone would even know that you were gone and/or miss you.
I had the same reaction.
See some of the comments, I know it's tough on the ego, but he has to decide whether he wants to work with at least some in our group.
I've forgotten who said it much earlier in this thread, his personality characteristics are not a good match for dealing with 'the public'. I've had positions a couple times where I was the face to customers. You need a mind set to deal with the person and keep yourself/your ego out of it.

I think it's kind of you to offer any bullets to people for free, but I'm pointing out that I'm willing to buy them from you, whether you're a businessman or not. I am currently willing to pay $1-$1.50/ea for monolithic bullets.

The most interesting thing to me in this thread is the picture that dellet posted with a 250 grain A-Tip sunk down to the bottom of the case, it made me wonder if I could get 190 grain CX bullets and turn them down myself? That wouldn't work with the A-Tip as it's bonded. By turning down the 190 grain CX, maybe I could adjust the boat tail to get the best performance. And this bring us full circle back to the 300 blackout. It's not as if people have longer magazines, they are limited to the mini-action, so it's not as if one can extend the bullet out further.

Could get possible better ballistics, that A-Tip looks svelte next to that Varmagedon, but companies like Barnes and Hornady do a good enough job that I don't have to worry about it and can spend the same time hunting. I apologize if that sounds selfish.
What matters is bullet profile. That 250 ATip is a great example and compare that to the 146 Lulu Aerospike.

The ATip is something like 1.875” long, max loaded length is around 2.485”. I shoot it from a Model 7 Remington using a modified AI 308 magazine. Same ones used for 223, 204 Ruger and such. MDT has a nice all steel one.

You just need to think outside the box a little bit.:D:oops::eek:

Hey guys lighten up. I would like to see this thread last at least until I can get some
Bullets down range farther than 10 yards before I give up.

@HappyHellfire
I don’t know where to start. But since you value honesty, I’ll start at the beginning and simply say, the one designed for 300 Blackout, simply sucks, and completely missed the mark of your target buyer.

The idea is great, take a range challenged cartridge and give it an overperforming bullet and extend the range well beyond anyone’s imagination.

If you haven’t figured it out yet with your superior intellect, I have quite the imagination. Your bullet doesn’t even scratch the surface of my imagination.

There is not a person on this forum, that can not claim a superior knowledge to yours in some subject, the difference is. They won’t rub your nose in it like you seem to want to do.

I bought your bullets, took a good look and a few measurements, then used my 10th grade math skills with an $49 caliper and called it spot on. It won’t fly.
When I gave you a shot at a possible explanation, your reply was basically, I never tested it for that. You even said you only tested it in the trans sonic range. I hope that was an mis understanding on my part.

I have caught you time and again with false and misleading information. Everything from basing your improved bullet design based on a non existent comparison bullet and again on your stated overall length claim of 2.260”

This is what happens when a test tube baby meets the real world. It’s a tough place.

Hopefully every one will take a step back and stay civil, keep this thread alive and let’s see some real world results. If there’s BS call it out, but stay civil.

Not much more for me to report. I posted the oblong hole earlier, so I know a 1/5 twist is off the table, only 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 left to go.;)

I did figure out why it’s called an Aerospike, it’s got this crazy little spike on the tail end that makes comparing overall length impossible when you want to sort bullets. Probably doesn’t do much for accuracy either.

It sits more or less in the center of a cup, pretty sure gas flow off the base of this bullet with 1/4” jump won’t be as direct as it could be. But what do I know.

This forum has had a good reputation, and most folks have acted like gentlemen. The responses to Happy Hellfire have become a bit nasty. How about easing up, remembering that if don't have something nice to say, don't say anything.
Let dellet ,the OP, do his testing and interact with the bullet designer/manufacturer, and the rest of us can observe and see the results.

You think I haven't tried? I have had NDA's with three different companies. Until January, I was plagued with prototyping issues and the data wasn't repeatable. The companies would see one failure and write the idea off. I might have a slight issue with stubbornness so I just kept going.

I would much rather license the technology and consult with an established company to transition these to market but I bought this really cool CNC lathe that sits still if I'm not making bullets. If I heard about a cool new idea like these bullets I would love to try it out. Thus, I'm offering them to y'all to play with.
But only if we pay for the bullets apparently, or agree to allow you to post the results.

Can I address this issue of ego, arrogance, conceit, or other personality faults for a second?

I have a love of knowledge and chose a profession where I can spend a good amount of my time learning about a field I love. The old saying "the more you learn the less you know" applies to me more than most.

I think the disconnect is with my confidence in my bullets. This is not based upon my knowledge or ego, it is based upon statistical analysis. No matter what my personal faults are, I have well over 99% confidence at this point that the bullets do what I say they do. There is no emotion or pride in that statement, just mathematical analysis.
WHERE ARE THE TARGETS YOU HAVE SHOT DURING TESTING???? I continue to ask and it’s crickets.

It is my understanding that driving bands were added to Barnes bullets because they copper fouled so badly and that the bands were a way to minimize that.
The copper is very hard compared to lead and the bands reduce the bearing surface contact thus reducing pressure and I think it would also help with fouling but pressure is the main reason.
