Disturbing Prospect -- Gun Owner Insurance Law

The bill hasn't passed yet here in CO, but it will. It's an all out assault on gun owners here in CO. They are passing an assault weapons ban, more rules on conceal carry, taxes on ammo, increased fees for FFL's and a couple others. The state is now run by Demorats and they can pretty much do what they want. I used to think it couldn't happen here, well I was wrong! It can happen anywhere!
I never thought I'd live to see a Western state pass such draconian laws. This is truly sad and alarming.

Easy to be flippant and say "You're in good hands with All State"...
The truth is that due to the actions of a few the many are held responsible and even to a die hard like my self it is obvious that there really is a "Gun Problem" in the country..
As for restricting "Assault Weapons" that is just the start, the turning point in OZstralia was the Fort Arthur massacre.
All semi-auto long arms {pump action shotguns as well but not rifles} were banned and the great "Buy Back" came into place/law with a 6 month amnesty for surrender and payment.
After that time it was jail time and fine time... I have seen photos of the turn in just before being crushed and very few "Assault Weapons" were turned in and just "went to ground" but you dare not try shooting any of them unless you have the highly restricted "Prohibited Weapons Permit" which mostly means that you are a professional hunter involved with pest eradication or own a very large rural property/farm and need a semi-auto or pump action shot gun in the course of your business... Catagory C
Semi-auto shotguns are available to certain handicaped individuals but it is a labourious process to obtain them and must also be kept in a Catagory C level safe...
All firearms {that includes air, black powder, paint ball} require a state "Shooter's License", safe storage facility with firearms stored separately from ammunition {firearm safes here have separately locking areas for ammo} and you are subject {without notice} to police inspection of your safe storage arrangement.
Failure to comply or to be in violation, such as a firearm not secured within the locked area means instant revocation of you firearms license and seizure of all firearms in your possession.
You must be able to show a that you have a reason to have a shooter's licence and that can be satisfied with club membership or for ferrel pest control... You must make a designated number of shoots per year to satisfy licence requirements. Four shoots per year if target shooting and two if for pest control or six if your license is for both catagories. Failure to complete requirements means that your firearms license will be revoked and your firearms will be seized and held until such time as you are re-licensed or you have a dealer sell the firearms...
If you cannot account for a firearm licensed to you or have an unregistered weapon... Instant arrest!
Currently West Australia {think Kalifornic} is enacting a law to limit the number of firearms over all...
A few exceptions for competitors to have more than one firearm in the same caliber and to own more than 6 in total.

The Colorado legislator had a hay-day recently.
Several gun related bills easily passed the house floor and are headed to the Colorado Senate.
I know one of the bills addressed locking up guns while in a motor vehicle and another was a ban on the sale of assault weapons, whatever that may be to those that penned the bill?

My understanding on the so call Assault Weapon in the bill is that it includes all semi-auto firearms. But it has to pass in the Senate and also the Govenor must sign it. Hopefully it will die at one or the other.

hmmm....

I bet you can't guess how many cars being driven around are by unlicensed and uninsured drivers. Just saying.
Over 30% in Oregon, according to my insurance agent. If you ever look at the breakdown of your automotive insurance bill (not just the cost of each policy), "uninsured motorist" is a significant portion.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a tactic to restrict owners. Having the 2A in the US you have a very different situation to us in the UK. Insurance is pretty normal over here and isn't expensive as shooting is regarded, at least by insurers, as a very safe sport. That all said, you're wise to resist any restrictions, as we are all too aware once one gets passed the anti's will start to work on the next one.

when they tried the registration of AR 15's in NYS they only got 3% to register.
But what you don't have a number of is the folks that sold them off. Three locals shops were overrun with Semi Auto rifles of every maker and caliber when the BS SAFE happened. I know professional folk and prison guards who are serious gun guys that had NIB AR's, AK's, H&K's, Springfield M!A's and every other type of Semi Auto, almost everyone of them took time but almost all rolled over and either Registered them or sold them off to a Dealer in NY State, Vermont and New Hampshire.

Here we go again how many of the criminals, and or street thugs will have insurance on stolen or blackmarket weapons. Flippin criminals have more rights than law abiding citizens.

I'm done.

Have a great day!

This not aimed at criminals. This is yet another potential impediment to private firearms ownership by law abiding citizens. The anti-firearm elements in our society and government will run proposed law after law in order to continually test the 2A. It`s like water wearing down a rock

I understand who this is aimed at. The law abiding citizen . Why dont they enforce the laws they have.?

Again, I'm done.!

Your remington 742 in 30-06 would be an assault weapon because it has a detachable magazine. Your 700 would be one if you thread the muzzle for a brake or suppresor, if the CO law passes and Polis signs it

No, this is about making Law Abiding Citizens into criminals. As an added bonus they bleed us dry in the courts fighting these rediculus laws.

You, going to be the ring leader. ??
A lot of people here bashing the NRA, I understand, so far they have beat down, many stupid bills, laws, & regulations.. no other organizations ( that I'm aware of have stepped up to the challenge).

The big problem I see is career politicians, corrupt attorneys, corrupt judicial systems, and public media distributing fake news in an attempt to sway the American public. Their job always was to present the facts, now they twist and present the facts to sway public opinion, and thinking.

With all that said, where do want to start.???

To all a Marvelous Monday.!
