Representative Carol Maloney (DEM) has introduced a bill so all American gun owners will be forced to own Gun Liablity Insurance. I don't have a link but you can look it up. Are politicians this vindictive? If you don't buy the insurance you will face a 10,00.00 penalty and who knows what. It hasn't been to committee yet but these are the back doors to make it unaffordable to own guns. I will leave you too your own opinions .

Are you an employee of the NRA Jon ???

You need to pack your bags and move out of N.Y. Jon. That place is destroying your sanity!

This is not a state law, it would be a federal law. This is drama but I meet gun owners all the time and they have no idea what they are trying to pull sir. Write your elected congress and senate and tell them you object.

"Maloney's initiative to implement firearm liability insurance has been met with widespread criticism. Experts in insurance law state liability insurance would not deter gun violence, as criminal activity and suicides- comprising 97% of firearm deaths- do not fall under liability policies.

Economists from Stanford University have also theorized the main motivation of advocates of firearm liability laws is to discourage gun ownership by raising the cost of owning a gun."

johnbearman.. you should be sending her the letters-direct
she seems to be dangerously powerful

With the number of politicians in office that own, shoot, carry, and hunt with guns, do you honestly believe this would stand a chance :o

After a quick search, I have found that California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and Pennsylvania, have, since early 2013, all introduced gun liability insurance legislation. All have failed in their attempts.

Rest easy and sleep well boys and girls ;D

I thought they were getting free anger management classes and a "jobs program". Should'nt that solve the problem?😳
It is amazing what the Liberals will come up with.

If you carry, you better have liability insurance. It would be ironic if you saved your life but ruined your life at the same time.

The "brothers" won't like this. They will get the ACLU to demand government subsidy for each brother to offset the cost, gun owner or not.

Jon, as you are seeing, Carol Maloney is definitely (and regularly) this vindictive. We can't afford to rest easy (at least with the present regime in the White House), as many weird things happen if we aren't alert; the best defense is calling/mailing/emailing our senators and representatives as soon as we become aware of them, and availing ourselves of the comment period to protest when government agencies such as the BATFE, IRS, EPA and State Department propose legislation that goes after us. Oh, and while commenting to the appropriate agency proposing regs against us, notify your senators and representative about your objections to the proposed agency regulations, too. We can never let out guard down.
