90 Day Cough??

Youngest daughter got "the cough". Got tested. NEE MONIA!!
Been a few weeks and still has a slight cough. Better than being DEAD!!

I never get caught without some antihistamine pills. Even when it's a virus or bacterial they help subdue symptons. The only ones worth a damn have pseudoephedrine and are "behind the counter" not on the shelf. I prefer 12 hour, not 24 hour version. Allergies hit me in the post-nasal, not itchy nose and eyes. I cough and retch trying to clear my airway. Saline flush of nasal passages also helps.

Well, I just got back from the doc with a bag of dope. He gave me an inhaler, bottle of antibodies, and some other cough related pills. The inhaler already seems to be busting up the crap in my lungs, so right now I'm coughing worse than ever.

It's not hard to imagine that with this kind of coughing that some folks don't bust a vessel and have a stroke. I asked the doc, and he said nah. I've put myself in the black zone a few times and had to sit down or fall down. Thanks for y'alls good wishes and advice. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. jd

I had a family member have this recently, he finally got to where it was hard to catch his breathe when working and decided he better go to the doctor. I’m glad your getting yours took care of.

Hope you get better soon. I had the “crud” in February and March. It’s what everyone is calling it, down here. I tested myself for Covid and it was negative. Finally called the doc and he prescribed antibiotics, an inhaler and cough suppressant. The doc wouldn’t say he knew what it was but he said it’s going around. Some folks blame it on pollen, some say fungus and some think it’s from the vaccine.

I had something and the doctors couldn't figure it out kinda like when COVID was spreading before it was called COVID and nobody knew what was fixing to happen.... I seriously thought it was over and thought maybe my ticker was giving out and of course couldn't get in to see my heart doctor for 30 days.... I was scared to go to sleep and it lasted for about two months.... The only good thing was I finally stopped smoking because of it , I figured it was time after 35 years. Hardest thing I have ever done...

I had something bad right before covey27 it was terrible got some antibiotics and it went away, but it was my worst breathing issue ever... I was also afraid to sleep haven't been sick since 4 yrs... maybe it was the end all croup...I was scared I hate not being able to breathe I quit smoking 16 yrs ago

Well I'll tell ya one thing about being sick with this crap, and I'll bet a lot of you already know it -- I haven't felt like doing diddly!!

With five or six weeks of coughing my guts out, I'm staying home, and not even doing much at home. I went out and did a little shooting a week or two back when I thought I was getting better, but haven't done a lot of stuff that needs doing in the spring-- inside or outside. I've lost almost ten pounds, and probably would lose a fight with a spunky kitten.

I first saw a doctor for this in the middle of March, and about the first of April felt good enough to take a self defense course. Now I'm wondering how many others I might have passed it on to. :(

I'm supposed to show up and work a day on the job I've almost retired from  this Friday. Hope my antibodies kick in by then. jd

I got it some time late Oct 2023. Nov 2023 got worse. Called teladoc got steroid and antibiotics. Sneezing, stopped up head, up all night coughing to the point of dry heaving. Pulled ribs out of place. Went to doc 4 times, shot of steroid and antibiotics plus every time sent home with steroids and antibiotics. Had it until about 3 weeks ago. Still have a little cough.

They called it 90 day cough. Family never got it though. Took breathing treatments also. Nothing seemed to help. On meds I felt a little better, once off meds it came back in about 3 days. Never knew what it was.

Had a coworker with a cough he just couldn’t shake. Had tests done - negative for any lung stuff. Eventually he tried another doctor. Bingo. It was actually a heart condition.
Fluid around lungs due to congestive heart failure. Acid reflux is another cause of chronic cough.

bronchitis can very easily lead to pneumonia (been there once) and if you have a fever that would certainly be one of the symptoms. I'd get in to see the doc and unless you really trust whomever you're seeing, get a second or third opinion. Not sure about down there, but up my way there's no shortage of quacks.

Hope you get to feeling good sooner than later, it's sage rat season ;)
This has happened to my wife more than once and her doctor said she didn't have pneumonia said test came back negative. it went on for 3-4 months. she went to work one day and her boss told her she looked like crap and made my wife an appointment with her Dr. in an hour. The Dr. said she had walking pneumonia and said the test are not all conclusive, you can test negative but still have it. This was the second time for my wife with her Dr. the first time she ended up in the hospital. Needless to say I made her get rid of that Dr.

Stay on top of it and don't be afraid to go in or get a second opinion if things aren't getting better.

Growing up in the east made me aware of Lyme disease. It almost killed my mother because her doctor wasn’t familiar with its symptoms. I had a little “come to Jesus “ meeting with him, he put her on strong antibiotics and she got better.
Fast forward to last fall. I found a tick on my leg and got the telltale ring. Called my doc. He started with “we don’t have Lyme disease in Texas” but I pushed hard and got the meds.
You have to demand better from doctors.

I think there are several forms of

"Chronic fatigue syndrome"

And Lyme is one of them.

There are several more now. One of them is "long COVID", which really has the same symptoms as Lyme. Basically, muscle weakness, nerve pain, muscle wasting, and extreme exhaustion. I think they have the same inventors.

People needs to discover the wonderful antiviral drugs hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin. Used together they are as effective as the best antibiotics. These have worked miracles in my house.

Yeah I'm pretty sure some years back they said Lyme disease is found in many western states nowadays. Back in the 60's/70's seemed it was only back east. One of our neighbor's daughters got it while in school back there and it went too long before diag. She was in pretty bad shape by the time they figured it out and she never did recover. Testing for weird stuff is cheap insurance.

Has anyone else around here picked up a case of one of these nasty respiratory virus's going around this year?

I caught a case of the crud a month ago and the cough was so bad I thought I was gonna tear my ribs loose. After a week of it I went to the doc to see if anything could make it easier on me. They gave me the various swab tests, and I was negative for the Rona and other stuff that was diagnosable. Called it acute bronchitis, and sent me home with a scrip for prednisone, and some kind of cough pill.

Well, I've had it for a full month, and thought I might be getting better when BAM! The whole thing slammed me again and now I'm every bit as bad as I was in the first week. Can't lay down to sleep without coughing my guts out, today had a 102 degree fever, and I guess tomorrow I'm going back to the doc. -- and I don't go to the doctor lightly.

Now -- in the course of having this crap for the last month, I've connected with several folks, some good friends who are going through the same. I've been told that they are calling this "The Ninety Day Cough". Anybody else suffering with this, or heard about it?. jd
Had the same thing after trying different Anti B they started treating it as a allergy and changing nasal spray every 4 days noticed a big change in 3 days after 2 weeks it was gone?
