Favorite war movies. What's yours?

Talking about war movies, i have a story that was told me when i was 22 years old (50 years ago) by the dad of a real good friend of mine.
Here goes.
My friend and me where watching "Action in the North Atlantic" with Humphrey Bogart, when his dad got home from bowling. The three of us finished watching the movie. Afterwords his dad began to tell us about The Battle of Cape Esperance aka: The Second Battle of Savo Island in the Solomon Islands during WWII. His dad was the gun captain in the #1 turret on the light cruiser Boise.
Ill let ya go to Wikipedia and read about this naval battle as it will take up too much space in this post.
To make this short, his dad survived to tell us about it but 100 of his shipmates didn't.
To end this, his dad mustered out of the navy in 1947 with 20 years service. The whole time he served as a gunners mate on cruisers and battleships in both theaters.
These people are the real heros.

Not repeating all the good ones mentioned above.
Couple of odd ones
Memphis Belle (well not really that odd)
The Hiding Place Corrie Ten Boom (2023)
Kinda liked Dunkirk
To think about WWI and WWII and the guys and gals who fought and understood the evils of this world.

I thought Kingdom of Heaven was excellent. Like most historically based movies, was pretty accurate in places ( there was a Siege of Kerac that was relieved by King Baldwin IV, Saladin did indeed allow the Christians to leave Jerusalem after its capture by the Muslims, there`s historical evidence that Saladin and Baldwin IV had mutual respect. Saladin sent a letter of condolences to Baldwin upon the death of Baldwin`s father ), and took liberties in others ( Baldwin was unable to sit a horse when he arrived at Kerac, and there`s no evidence that Baldwin and Saladin ever met in person as they did in the movie. )

The original 1965 Battle of the Bulge movie with Henry Fonda and Robert Shaw. I really enjoyed Kelly's Hero's but that's nothing but a comedy set in WW2. Have to say The Blue Max with George Peppard and To Hell and Back with Auty Murphy would tie for 2nd place.

There are other good ones but these are my favorites.
Johnny Got His Gun
We Were Soldiers
Das Boot
Breaker Moriant
Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence
The Bridge Over The River Kwai
Hacksaw Ridge

Not in any order

If you like airplanes and the misunderstood Korean War, Devotion. A 2022 film about Navy aircraft.
The battle for Chosin Reservoir.
We were Soldiers
Politics ran that war just like Vietnam.

Das Boot was a movie title? There is a bar in my town called the Horseshoe. Drunken idiots being drunken idiots, we just seemed to change names of places. I remember writing checks to "Das Boot" for my bar tab. It's a mostly German town.

Das Boot was a film about a German Submarine (the boat) beer boot would be bierstiefel.
It is a Wolfgang Peterson film from the perspective of the crew of a German Submarine, U-96. I don't want to spoil the film as it is even from an American perspective a great war film.

I should add another war film, The Enemy Below, Robert Mitchum and Curt Jurgens, a U.S Destroyer Escort vs a German U-Boat.
