New hornady ELD-VT bullets

I don’t know what happened to the other thread on these things but I ran the .224 62 grain to 3450 from an 8 twist and everything made it to the target.

They shot awful however, holes were round but poor groups at best. 3” “patterns” were as good as they would go for my rifle.

The gun is a well used 22-250ai that shoots quite well. Maybe the barrel went to garbage or I haven’t found the right spot yet, or I need a faster twist.

I’m not sure yet, the rifle shoots 75 bergers into small groups and has for a number of years.

I haven’t revisited the 62 yet but will take a look at it again soon.

1000000679.jpgshooting the 62gr ELD VT out of my 22-6mmAI with an 8.5 twist brux. Im getting 3900 and haven't lost one yet. Even fired 5 rounds fairly quick on steel to see if they would hold together. Now to test on a coyote.

Update 9 twist. 100 yards 4000fps + bottom 3 shots rld 15.5 shots 13-16. Bottom 4381 shots 19-26 44.5-46.2. 46.2 had slight click it shows on target. I figured it out Jason W miracles do happen.

Yeah I did a little looking before and figured the 22 cm had the horsepower to make things work just fine.

^^^How many revolutions does the bullet make from muzzle to target at 100 yards?
What is the rotational velocity of projectile in fps?

I do wish someone would make a 6mm 55 grain projectile like Sierra once did.. awesome little pills.

Shot some factory Hornady 80grain eld vt Friday in some 17-20 mph wind out of a 16” cmmg resolute It’s a small sample size but, it shot really well for me. The first target was getting it zeroed. The steel target was at 300ish yards. I was trying to find my holdovers in my 1-6 sig MSR. Top two shots were first shots. Bottom two were my second shots. Then finally find the right holdover and center punched the target.

I ended up taking a coyote at 80 yards yesterday. Hit him in the chest (he was quartering away a little) and got a pretty good sized exit wound. He piled up about 10yards from were I shot him.
