New Garmin Xero C1 Radar Chronograph

PLEASE DISREGARD INFO ON SCREEN, WE WERE SHOOTING SEVERAL GUNS INCLUDING A 300 BO SUB SONIC AND A 204 RUGER OVER 4000 FPS.

I too have a Samsung S8. Didn't really want a new phone. Us old folks don't look forward to a new phone like the kids and grandkids do. So I bought a Cheap Digiland tablet on E$ay. Has androind 11 operating system. Search for Digiland DL1036 $49.99 including shipping. PM me and I will give you link if interested. Shotview loaded and works great. Was also able to install my Sierra loading manual. A lot easier to see than on my phone. Here are some pictures of what I have. I am sure other CHEAP tablets would work as well. Should be a lot on sale fort black Friday. Not saying this is the way to go, but it is working for me.

I think that 1036 has the 10.0 operating system. I suppose it really doesn't matter be asked it works for you. Amazon does sell some 11.0-13.0 tablets for around 70.00 also.

It was shipped as 10.0 operating system but updates as soon as you turn it on to 11. Works great

Why, yes, that is a Garmin Xero hanging out on the ARCA rail.
Wonder just how much gear an ARCA rail can hold.

I received mine yesterday, set it up all crooked in the window sill of my outbuilding and fired five 22 cal pellets, it picked up all shots even set up all wonky.
What a great piece of gear. Anyone looking for a Mag speed or a sky screen?. lol.

Got mine a couple days ago from Amazon. Out back I went with a Red Ryder BB gun, Beeman 177 spring gun and a 22 rifle with different low noise ammo types.

Some of the 22 ammo was exactly the advertised velocity on the box. The spring air gun hit 920 fps with 8 gr pellets. Red Ryder pooped. Not a single shot recorded. May try archery setting sometime.

Took an ancient Crossman 66, 177 BB, out in the yard.
Xero on photo tripod, Shot a few with 10 pumps, and a few with one pump.
5" X 5", 10" X 10", and 15"X15"


Velocity 15" back, 15" to the side was a little slower.
Didn't try angles.
Seems it would pick up nearby shooter if Xero was placed between them and barrel to barrel distance was about 30"

Used the Xero today at our 500 yard range.
We were shooting suppressed, muzzle break guns and standard barrels.
I purposely placed the unit in several different positions, all pointed in the direction of the target but not set with any precision. Never missed a shot.

I am damn impressed!

I have about 300 rounds over mine now and it’s been flawless except for the last time out. Out of 40 rounds it missed 6. Weird thing was every one it missed at the shot it would show “analyzing shot” on the screen but then not record the velocity. I did have it a little further back from the muzzle…maybe 10-12 inches but only about 5 inches away laterally. I was alone at the range. I’ve seen mounts on the stock and front rear so I don’t thing having it back from the muzzle was my problem. Need to do a bit more testing but don’t really know what the problem is. On all the other outings I haven’t really been specific with placement and it always picked up all the shots. The fact that it is analyzing the shot but not giving the velocity tells me it’s triggering at the shot so maybe not a placement problem. May call Garmin today and get their take on it.

Couple things to look at/think about with missed shots.
Shrouding of the radar beam by the barrel/forearm could reduce bullet pick up signal strength.
5" offset with 12" back was clear space to the edge of the unit?
Rifle movement while tracking could confuse the unit.
Let us know if Garmin is any help.

Late to the party here guys......sorry. But has anyone tested shotgun (buckshot) loads with this new kid on the block. I own a Labradar and shotgun loads are not reliable to me. Trying to get a good read on Buckshot.

Shot over one Monday, we had a 45-70, a 223, 7mm-08, and 6ppc. The owner of the garmin set it on the low range but it was just over 1700 fps so it was out of range till he set it to the higher range. After that it didn't miss a shot.

One reading like most optical chronographs. So, no bc from Xero. Some are placing Xero at different distances to get velocities and using jbm or app to calculate bc.

I compared my new Garmin to my old Oehler 35P yesterday. The Garmin and the 35P were about 20 ft/sec different consistently. The 35P readings were always the slower of the two. The first 35P screen was about 10 feet from the bench. The Garmin was about 15" behind the muzzle.

So which is ballistically true? If you can shoot at long range one might be the most accurate.
