New Garmin Xero C1 Radar Chronograph

I compared my new Garmin to my old Oehler 35P yesterday. The Garmin and the 35P were about 20 ft/sec different consistently. The 35P readings were always the slower of the two. The first 35P screen was about 10 feet from the bench. The Garmin was about 15" behind the muzzle.

So which is ballistically true? If you can shoot at long range one might be the most accurate.

So has anybody found anything they don’t like about it. From what I read here the plus side Its small, works every time, give you mainly what data you need, not real fussy about where you sit/aim it, Not bothered my other guns on the line and I guess after the rush to get one and the price settles down it will be very affordabl. Sounds like Garman just pitched a no hitter and got it right the fist time

You have it right. Love mine.
Interesting people have been testing it to find something wrong....nothing!!!

I really like the thing…I did have a slight issue with it missing shots but I had it positioned pretty far to the side and pretty far back from the muzzle…this was just so it was easy for me to reach. I moved it closer like the directions said and problem solved. It’s never had any issues picking up other shooters, even when I had it positioned to far from my rifle. If I had one small gripe…not sure it’s really a gripe just a small improvement I would like…is if you could use the phone app to stop a session and start a new one. But it’s really not that difficult to use the unit to do so. For me personally the thing that makes this thing a home run is the top end speed and the fact that it does very good with fast 17cal bullets. I’ve tried all my 17 cal rifles over it and it doesn’t miss a beat and reads every shot from slower 17hmr to 15.5g going over 4500fps. I could never get reliable results with any other chrono I tried with the small bullets. Optical or radar and this thing doesn’t have any issue with them.

The only thing I find lacking - and hope that it will be addressed in a future update - is the data export. I like to take the data to Chronoplotter, but with the Garmin this is a manual data entry process. If we could export the multiple sessions in a batch, and format the data slightly, Chronoplotter could import and display the data like it does for LabRadar and Magnetospeed.

It exports as a CSV (comma separated variable), what could be easier. You can combine, reformat what ever you desire in just about any spreadsheet.

It exports as you say, but has to be done for each series. On the Labradar, all series are in different folders, and in the Chronoplotter program you just point to the directory and click on the series you want to include for analysis/plotting. As you mentioned, this can all be done with the CSV outputs but unless you develop a script, you will be doing this for each series you record.

It could be easier if one could select any number of series to be exported in one export operation rather than having to export them separately. . . . especially when one has several powder load series with more than one gun. Other chrono's have addressed this issue for ease of use, but somehow those at Garmin missed that function.

I have no way of knowing which is correct. I assume the bullet will lose a little velocity in the 11 feet(+/-) between the Garmin and the first 35P screen, but it's probably not significant. That said, 20ft/sec between the two devices seems to be well within the margin of error and I won't worry about it.

That's my wish too! It's a PITA when doing ladder tests to get up and and use the unit to start a new session.
