That's my wish too! It's a PITA when doing ladder tests to get up and and use the unit to start a new session.

I am shooting a 30" barrel with a 9" Thunder Beast. I had to build an extension platform on my bench to get it within 15". I am 6'2" also and have to raise up and lean forward to retrieve the Zero to reset it also.

We tested mine and got readings with is set on top a cooler back around my friends waist shooting prone. Also got good readings with it set about 3’ off to the side a bit behind the muzzle. We had a Labrador set there to compare it to. The Garmin of course picked up every shot, the Labrador didn’t and even had an attached.

I dont have mine handy but you should check to see if you can do the resets etc via the app. then no need to touch it until your'e done shooting

I have used mine, handheld standing behind and to the side of a shooter, and it picked up the shot without an issue. The data is probably a little skewed in this arrangement, but moving yours rearwards a few inches should not impact the data greatly; and it should affect all your data equally.

Got my Garmin about a week ago a friend came down this morning we shot around 40 rounds between the 2 of us just to try it out it didn’t miss a shot. I’m very pleased and impressed with it

I changed from a Magnetospeed. I hated not being able to shoot groups and chrono at the same time.

Sounds like this may be the end for Lab Radar! In this world if you sit and count your money, with little to no updates, something will come along and sink your battleship! I would love to be a fly on the wall at Lab Radar these days. Surely some interesting conversations taking place! Really makes no sense, as they literally owned this market and could still have a big market share if they had listened to their customers concerns and offered software updates. Oh well, the ship is headed to the bottom now. Live and learn I guess.

Due to the placement of my front rest, I had to place the Garmin 24" behind the muzzle of this 6.5x284 rifle. The unit was about 12" in front of my face, easily within reach. It never missed a shot despite the fact that a knob was partially blocking the Garmin's forward view/signal.

Their placement suggestions are VERY forgiving.

From what I saw with my testing of two units...
If the unit gives you a velocity reading it's within a couple FPS of being dead on.
It seems like when it's at the point of giving a questionable velocity it does its little thinking screen then populates nothing if it's not a good number. You'll have to be FAR from the suggested positioning for that to happen

I am doing the same. I went from a Caldwell to a Magnetospeed to this one.

A couple of times now, I've had it pickup my son's shots, who's within arms reach of me. My SD went from 8 to 48 .... so it was easy to spot.
