Official Gun Pix 'Pride & Joy' Thread

This is a special request from the father of a 13 year old boy for last Christmas. A 270 Win, with a synthetic stock, hunting rifle. It started as a 30-06 Rem 700, it ended, 12 days later, in time for Christmas, with two days to spare, as a 270 Win, trued action, 5 squared, lugs to 100% contact, Timney trigger, 100% glass bedded action and bottom metal, free floated barrel, rust blued. I would have turned it .010 over but did not have a .010 barrel in 270 in stock. Test fired to .35 inches.

Latest budget build:

Action from a 1989 Remington 700 in 7mm Remington Magnum.
McGowen 24-inch Remington magnum contour 8-twist barrel in 7mm PRC.
Second-hand pillar bedded Darrell Holland laminate stock I had to open up for the magnum barrel.
Timney trigger and Vortex Viper HST 4-16x44 from my stash.
Talley 20 MOA rings.

I think it came together pretty nicely.

7mmPRC-15.jpg

Urban Rifleman stock I fitted with a RAD recoil reducer.

Meet the new one... same as the old one.

IMG_3369.jpg

Sorry, couldn't resist the reference. Not quite the same, however; my high school and college prone rifle was a 40X in .22 LR, this one is 7.62 NATO. Bone stock at this point. Found it on consignment at my local store - the owner was losing his eyesight and consigned several guns, including this one.

Just joined and saying howdy. Added the Vortex 6.5x20 and have been trying out various loads on a friend's rest. For now it look like 175 gr bullets work best. At least that's what I'll start practicing with. Going to try to shoot prone again after 45-plus years.

I am a pushover for those rifles.

Recently aquired this lovely 1960's British target rifle, an Enfield Envoy. The same rifle was fitted with a Pecar 3.5-10 for the UK Police as the "Enfield Enforcer" and used with a 6x Kahles scope by the Canadian military. It's in 308, with a magazine made by Sterling.

WOW! WOW! WOW! Well, I don't have it in my hands yet but it is definitely on the bus heading this way. Zack sent it out today and tracking says I will get it on Thursday. All 9 previous builds with Zack has been a pleasure and I cannot say enough good about his workmanship, quality, service, price, and communications as he has shown from day one to be more than just my rifle builder. We have a relationship that is not common in the rifle building arena. He has also chosen a stock painter (Bc'z here on the site) that has turned out prized jobs over and over again and again. His work matches Zack's perfectly no doubt. I deeply appreciate all that both of these guys have done for me and will continue to speak highly of them here and anywhere I have an opportunity. Take a peep below for yourself at another piece of Art well done.
