What is the go to BR Gun Case now that Plano Air glides are discontinued?

I have an SKB and a Pelican. I made a divider out of thinner foam so I can get one on top and one on the bottom. I put a couple of 28-30” barreled varmint rigs that weigh 35-45 pounds each, I about want a fork lift after a day or four of loading and unloading.
Buddy ended up with some heavy duty semi soft single cases. We tried a lot of options and these seem to be more user friendly. Especially when I say I am only bringing four rifles, yet some how end up with three cases, with two guns in each lol.

To those looking at hard cases. My SKB model is really nice and heavy duty, BUT, it lacks a latch on each end.
The Pelican has good latches and on each end. However it is not as heavy built as the SKB.

I still have 2 Airglides but never use them since going to the Vault case, I now have 5 of them.
Indestructible, lockable if you fly and the ability to not worry whether your 6 - 7,000.00 rifle is secure and protected or not
Do you cut the foam on these or is it the pluck type? Thanks!

The best thing about the AirGlide cases is no side load on the scope.
Bingo!

Forum Boss: For many years I carried my 6BR rifle in an airglide. No scope issues ever. But then one time I put it in a normal gun case. The next time I went to the range, The elevation was changing up/down by a yard or more at 600 yards. I then sent it back to Lrip old and they essentially replaced all the moving parts inside the main tube. I can’t say it was the gun case that did the issue but that’s a strong coincidence…

I cut the foam. Each case is for a specific rifle.
If I need to switch the case to a new rifle I have an upholstery shop not far from the house and I can get a new piece of high density foam for less than $ 10.00.

I have used my ICC for over 35 years for when the rifle needs max protection.

Nothing better imo toploader
this is nice! thanks for posting this.

I wish it had the width for 3" stocks, and the price is a little up there, but I really like the design.

I have a 30 inch Panda F class in mine with bolt and it is on a 3 inch wide stock. This case will take longer and wider... it is a hard case wrapped in heavy fiber cloth or something.

I dont see the need for heavy expensive hard cases unless you are flying. I traveled a 1K plus miles each way on PD trips w/18 to 20 scoped rifles in $20.00 soft cases. The rifles were put between the fender wells of my truck, positioned if on a rest. When in the field, unzip the end of the case and remove the rifle, the case stayed in place. In all my many trips I never had a rifle loose zero or have any damage. Your mileage may vary. LDS

I don't know about most of you but you spend $4k on a rifle, 2k on a scope, and then you balk at paying $200 - $250 on a protective case to carry it in.
What is wrong with this?
I have 2 Plano's for my short trip to the range, and 2 Pelican's if I decide to travel any distance.

Even though the Pelican 1750 is heavy I use this for all trips, like you said with what we have invested in the gun/scope I'm not scrimping on the case!
