Reloading Room Ideas

Terrible carpentry done by myself. I plan to have my father help me next time, he’s a custom cabinet maker by trade, now retired.

Doesn’t look that bad to me! It definitely serves the purpose. Will you be able to prepare your new space before the move or will you have to leave everything packed up while you set up the new room?

We haven’t started building yet, we are in the process of picking out a plan and starting to get utilities on site. It’s about two hours from where I currently live. I’m hoping things will work smoothly and the house will be done and we’ll have time to set things up before our current house sells. This is going to probably take at least a year we are told.

If your house is being built . Id think seriously about having the contractor build out the garage and maybe some of the room . Like maybe the framing/boxes for the bench/s and drawers . You can then install the top/s and face everything off . I’m a contractor and If I wouldn’t do it I know one of my guys would for a little extra money on the side .

Built my gun vault room out of concrete block, reinforced with 5/8” rebar every cell, grouted solid full height of walls. Ceiling is concrete lintels.Block was cut to surround door frame, door was cut opened and filled with light weight concrete. For less than 1k in material I have 2 hour fire rated gun room vault.

My wife is gonna kill me. I thinking if building something along the same lines. I like the idea of a vault room, get tired of fishing out rifles from the back of the safe or singing them getting them in and out. It would be nice to have them all out and accessible and secure.

same exact thing i did with mine, why spend $3-4k+ on a gun safe that probably wouldn’t fit half my long range guns properly, when I could just build a whole damn sectioned off room.

There is a thread over on Accurate reloading. I haven't been there in years but there were some pretty nice finished reloading rooms shown. You have to hold your nose when you are there, however.

I am planning something similar. Couple questions.
What did you do for the ceiling?
Did you purchase a vault door?
What did you do with the window?

ended up doing a drop ceiling.

i did not purchase a door yet….kinda in a weird spot right now with it. i really want a safe door for that professional look, but I can’t drag a 700lb vault door down my stairs. snap safe makes a lighter option that looks good but they don’t make a 36” outswing model.

window is still there, i just put the 55” tv in front of it lol
