ATF BOMBSHELL re AR Pistol Braces

Funny thing, MO specifically recognized AR pistols with braces as legal means of deer hunting.

So, you now have a situation where it is legal locally, but not federally. Kind if like marijuana.
I anticipate Mo Conservation dept to update that if this doesn't get struck down. If they do I guess I'll build a bolt action pistol.

An executive branch agency cannot redefine what a rifle is. Only Congress can do that.

This will get struck down.
That is how it should be, both in ATF action, and the SCOTUS declaring this brace "ruling" unconstitutional.
However,
ATF "defined" that bump stocks are now machineguns, and possession became and is still a felony.
No provision for registering. Except for certain FFLs/07's, no civilian can legally have them.
So far, attempts to bring this unconstitutional action to the courts have been unsuccessful.

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the ban on bump stocks this past week.

This will explain the bump stock thing

Defined them as SBRs, not machine guns.

The rule does allow for the possibility of a legal actual braced pistol for the minority that want that.
It does not simply make everything with a brace and a short barrel an sbr.
It's even less clear than the worksheet what you would have to do to qualify, though.
Probably a short 'length of pull' and a brace that 'objectively' functioned better as a brace than a stock.

What about the letters that ATF gave out when they allowed the braces many years ago? which do you believe? Now if they show the old letter and issue a statement "only kidding." then I guess its OK???

Well, once the rule goes into effect you're a felon either way. But if you choose to register it, you need to also have the permission slip to cross state lines.
Maybe they're the felons in the first place for creating treasonous acts that directly
conflict with the simple clear language of the second amendment.
The big problem is that THEY never suffer consequences when it is found even by the
U.S. Supreme court that THEY committed a violation of the Constitution by passing
UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAWS, yet WE ALWAYS SUFFER CONSEQUENCES for the
slightest unlawful infractions.
GOOD FOR THEE BUT NOT FOR ME
