ATF BOMBSHELL re AR Pistol Braces

I don't believe this has been mentioned here yet. They already have a page up to start the process. It can be found under their eforms.

Why would you register a pistol brace? It was legal when I purchased it. The ATF cannot create law. This will go down in the courts, unfortunately it will take time.
I was in process of form 1 for my pistols anyway, but my point remains. They can go pound sand.

Other options including removing the stabilizing brace to return the firearm to a pistol or surrendering covered short-barreled rifles to ATF. Nothing in this rule bans stabilizing braces or the use of stabilizing braces on pistols........

I am having a problem comprehending this.

Out of curiosity, I started the process of completing their form and was quickly overcome by things best read by a lawyer. They already know me anyway because of a stamp I have on a trust for a silencer. It said the gun you wish to register had to have been on the trust prior to 1/13 or something like that. HTH was I supposed to have known to put a gun on a trust before 1/13 when the rules hadn't even been published yet?
What happens if a gun with a brace is registered as an SBR then a regular stock is installed on the gun?
I have a whole lot of questions about this.

Yes. You need a 5320. 20 to cross state lines.
So, when I took my AR pistol deer hunting in another state 2 weeks ago it was Ok, now I need to get the ATFs permission to hunt on my own land under the restricted season?

GTFO

This is the first step to registering firearms. I see this as the trial to see if they can gain mass compliance. They don't care if it is constitutional or not... none of the states pulling out ban do either. There is zero consequence for them making up law by fiat, only that it has to be challenged then thrown out, wasting time and money.

Well, once the rule goes into effect you're a felon either way. But if you choose to register it, you need to also have the permission slip to cross state lines.

your AR Pistol will no longer be a pistol if you register it as an SBR. So no need to take it pistol hunting. ;)
