Bolt action handgun

Don’t forget, you must use an action that has never been a rifle .
That is not totally true.
If the action/firearm was sold initially as a pistol, it could be made into a rifle or a pistol. And swapped at other times back and forth.

If sold initially as a rifle, always a rifle

A true left hand action would be ideal (to me).
XP action mounted in a left hand thumb hole stock.
Shoot it left handed and work the OEM bolt with your right hand.;)
OR, pick up a Savage lefty action and shoot it right handed. Work the bolt and feed ammo with your free left hand.

Wanted to try shooting a lefty action right handed. ( I'am right handed) Picked up a Savage Model 12 LEFTY repeater, found an ambi stock, mounted them together and went shooting. LOVE IT!!

Ordered up a right hand BR style thumbhole stock, added a Whidden V Block, plugged the right bolt handle cut and recut it on the left side.
Added a single shot adaptor/floor plate.
Right hand stays in the thumb hole for stock control and my free left hand works the bolt and feeds ammo.

I have one of my XP-100s set uo with a left hand thumb hole stock so I can work the bolt with my right hand. I am left handed but shoot mostly Right handed even though my left eye is dominant.

Didn't hurt me too much when doing my annual handgun qualification. This was 30 rounds at 37.5 feet with a Glock 34 with open sites. I was dissappointed with three of them, but was happy with 297 out of 300.

I own 5 Bolt action Handguns (3 XP100's, Anshutz 64P and a wichita). The wichita has a left hand bolt and ejection port and works great on a bench BUT is a pain in Creedmore position (for handgun Silhouette) as it likes to drop the Hot case right in the middle of my Chest!

Some people have had guns built on Nesika Actions and they love them!

There use to be a " specialtypistol.com".com forum site. The owner just retired.
The "longrangehunting" forum set up a special pistol forum.

If you want a full custom I'd go xp100. Largest aftermarket.... stocks, triggers, smiths...ect.
Rebarrel yourself....Savage Striker.
Stock Wichita is probably the closest to a semi custom right out of the box, best trigger (no safety)

We put together an XP rifle a while back. Rifle stocks were anything but easy to find, especially if the dog leg bolt is still used. I got lucky and found a gent that had bought an XP rifle and was going back to a pistol, so he cut me a good price on a trigger and the McMillan stock.
Some are drilling and taping the action to work in a model 7 stock I believe.

If you can find a good used one, the MOA CORP."MAXIMUM" is a stronger falling block pistol. No longer made but can be customized to any practical cartridge, 22rf up to a 458 win mag, any barrel length you want.

Savage had made several models. One of the guy's at the club
has one with both a standard bolt and magnum bolt with head
space gauges. Don't take long to swap barrels. His best knuckle
thumper is the 458 Winchester. And he shoots it without a brake. LOL
That I would like to see. I shot one shot in a 45-70 Contender. That was enough. o_O

And this is my Wichita. Amazingly, the barrel has over 10K+ rounds through it still shoots less than an Inch at 100! First Pic is as a center grip, second pic is same gun as a rear grip.
