Bolt action handgun

The only reason i casually mention this everytime this comes up is your neighborhood ATF guys are not going to chase down a 4473 you filled out 10yrs ago to see if it was classified as a pistol every time it was sold. If an atf guy sees you at a range with a normally rifle classified action such as a defiance rebel or a remington 700 made into a pistol you will go to jail if they decide they want to use their power, and the burden of proof will be on you to prove you didnt make a rifle into a pistol. But im sure itll be fine, the atf is not known to harass legal gun owners.
If the ATF guy is at your local range he is likely there to shoot his own personal firearms and not give anyone the third degree. Although those ATF agents (like any alphabet agent) can be harass they usually only get exited about making big high profile busts. I used to deal with them regularly and most are regular guys.
Just remember that YOUR attitude means everything. They will follow your lead so, as the song says, "you better be good for goodness sakes".
An AR is too hard to keep up with, but they KNOW remington never made a 700 pistol (hence the XP). They know ruger never made a 10-22 pistol so when they see one they assume it was a rifle manufactured into a pistol. They are trained to look for the third hole on an AR and other conversions such as “sawed off” weapons since they are dangerous.
You are somewhat incorrect. Remington DID make pistols on 700 actions. They had braces attached aka the AR pistol configuration.

I’m no expert on bolt action pistols, but this thing is fun to shoot and hunt with.
If you want info on anything bolt action pistol get in touch with Ernie Bishop he is the man!

That's slick. I've had my eyes on that stock for a long time. I have absolutely no use for one but I want to build a pistol for 100-200 yard recreational shooting... This thread is not good for me

You can build a ground up custom like this Kelby in a Manners stock with AICS mags.

Or find an MOA, which is set up for barrel swaps (with the right extractor swap, of course)

For hunting, the H-S can't be beat for accuracy, configuration, and light weight. This is in 284 and wears a Leica now

Encore/Contender have advantages and disadvantages to a bolt gun

Savage Striker has the flexibility of barrel/bolt face swaps, but stocks and aftermarket parts in general are inferior to the XP world

Beyond that, Kauger and Nosler make bolt pistols, custom XP are probably the most common option, Weatherby made pistols, Kimber made pistols, Wichita made pistols, I've seen some built on Sako actions. Blaser made an HHS straight pull bolt action, but good luck finding one at any price.
