ADG 300 wsm brass testing

I recently received 50 pieces of ADG 300 wsm brass for testing. The first production run will be November of this year. I haven’t shot the brass yet but did take a few measurements.

case head to datum with my .420 tool was exactly the same measurement as my previously fired and sized brass (Norma)

case head is .550”
Loaded round is .338
H20 volume of un fired brass is 79 grains
ADG rep told me fired case volume is 80.3 ish
Primer pocket depth is .126”
BR2 primers seated tight.

I was told the ADG 300 WSM brass held one grain more than Norma (78gr H20) and you've now confirmed that. ADG is pretty good stuff and I see no reason why their new 300 WSM brass will be any different.

Thanks for taking the time to get some preliminary measurements and post it.

@rhovee can you tell us what type rifle you will be using for this test, hunting type repeater with standard reamer or a single shot type with custom reamer? Powder, primer also? Just curious and thank you very much for sharing

The accuracy potential of ADG brass is not in question. Check out the 300 saum imp thread, all of that is ADG brass. I actually prefer ADG over Lapua at this point. I think we will see this brass getting the WSM up to the next node that we could not reach with Norma brass. At least without hurting it. Something to note, your old die that worked with Norma may not cut it. This brass is tougher, thats why we like it, so sizing die requirements will be different than soft brass. Its great to see this brass finally!

This answers my question as to why you all are now pursuing this cartridge, knowing that the 300 Saum currently runs the same node as the WSM.
Should have known it was directly tied to Norma brass since I’m running it in my 7saum.
Gonna try ADG’s offering soon to see if I can get RL23 and or H1000 up to that ~3015 node without the brass yielding. Can only hit the ~2920 one now...
