Local gun store selling on gunbroker for absurd price

This retailer is putting his shop’s reputation at great risk by raising his primer prices by a factor of eight. We own a medium sized gun store and we have not increased our margin on any of our merchandise. The wholesale cost we pay to our distributors has increased a modest amount so our prices are up only slightly whereas the other stores in our area have raised prices a lot. Our customers see this and comment favorably.

Capitalism allows for profiteering. But selling is about information and not only sellers have it. If you have information about a seller, share it with other buyers. Also capitalism.

We all get the benefit of information and if a seller takes a short-term risk that costs them in the long term, they have felt the power of markets. Fair.

I bought primers off GB as I needed them for a match. Bought them from a private individual but was shipped by a gun store.

Here is a idea. If you buy something that requires HAZ-MAT fees or markings and it comes with none on the package report the seller to the authorities. That will surely put a damper on their profits, and stop them from making obscene profits.

Is it this same guy buying them up? Big K?

Question: why is it that our own greed is normal and proper, but someone else’s greed is abhorrent “gouging”?

Be honest enough to admit that it is in fact our own greed that wants cheap and abundant supplies. And when we gripe about “gouging” we are complaining about someone else’s greed standing in the way of our own. Greed is greed. It’s just self interest.
You didn’t work your career as a charity, you “greedily “ demanded a paycheck.
So when someone else acts the way all people do, it’s time to get off that high horse and stop pretending we don’t have our own self interest.

I used to be a bona fide conspiracy theorist. But since I started avoiding ALL media and news, that's not true any more. But my take on prices is that the money supply has grown so much that people are willing and able to pay more for things and not think twice about it. I.e. inflation. Most people who get a $1400 check in the mail are going to spend it on stuff they wouldn't normally buy and never give it a second thought. Kind of like winning the lottery. Ammo and components are surely up, but then again I see people spending $70K on a new pickup and financing it for 9 years too!

But lets theorize on what will happen when the next 2008 type event happens. It's been 13 years since that fiasco, so I would think the balloon will pop or we will suffer third world type inflation if they keep on.

The ones griping are the ones who didn't stock up when they could. Whose fault is that?
The value of something is determined by what someone will pay and if the new administration heavily taxes or prohibits the sale of reloading components, today's prices may seem cheap.
Hope everyone who voted for the most anti-gun president in history is proud.
Or did not get off the sofa to vote at all…
