Well statedMy brother came into town and we were able to secure a tee time at Cedar Ridge country club here in Tulsa. I didn't realize that Cedar Ridge was essentially almost on the level with Southern Hills. So, when we arrived the parking lot was filled with vehicles that were usually 100K plus. And the patrons were certainly above the pay scale of the average Tulsan.
The course was the most immaculate golf course I've ever been on, and I've been on some pretty nice golf courses. The people were very friendly, and the staff was incredibly attentive, I could certainly see why people would like a nice country club. What used to be the same attention you got at a public course is now only reserved for country club patrons. Everyone was very polite and all of the other members were incredibly nice and welcoming. That was the kind of a shock.
That all being said, I didn't have any more fun playing that course that I have had in the past playing courses that cost me $13. That were certainly not as nice. In fact, there was so much pressure to have a good time I don't think I had a good time.
After the round we went to the little club and had some drinks and ate peanuts and talked. Everyone knew each other and there was a lot of cutting up among the members. My brother told me that maybe I should join a club. I told him that I was never willing to do the things that it would take to make that kind of money. I've been around people that make a lot of money, and almost without exception, they will do things that I will not do. Not 100%, but the moral compass becomes very skewed when large amounts of money are involved. And for the most part, most of the rich people I know are not happy. They seem to be almost tormented. It takes so much to maintain that lifestyle.

My dad always told me the same thing...only he was telling me I was lazy!!!![]()
If it were me, no. Cause in my mind there is a difference.Maybe that Lambo was used. How about any new Powerstrokes or Rams in the parking lot? Bet those things go for quite a bit nowadays and maybe more than a used Lambo. Would you have posted anything if he got in a new Powerstroke?

You got that right! When my mechanic asked me if I was sure I wanted to dump 3 large on a new front diff in my 2004 Ram 4x4 since it has 315k miles on it “you know one of these days that motor is just gonna give up”This is the truth. New trucks are more than a new Mercedes
Very true. I have a highschool buddy that has done very well for himself. His parents were pauper immigrants who worked their guts out and the kids had to as well. All four kids ended up successful professionals. My buddy has a weakness for exotic cars and has had just about them all. McLarens / Lambos/ Porsches /.. were fine but when he got a Ferrari, none of his "buddies" would talk to him. Onsold it in less than a month. Proves you can flaunt it too much.Careful what you wish for. Extreme wealth is isolating, and brings out the worst in the people around you.
I think it’s just a promise for a heavenly kingdom if you believe, no matter what material things you have on this earth.Just an idle thought: If material wealth and riches are unimportant in a more important spiritual sense, why is streets paved with gold such an important thing?
Because living the ascetic lifestyle is no fun at all. Not even the clergy do that anymore. Since around 350 AD anyway.Just an idle thought: If material wealth and riches are unimportant in a more important spiritual sense, why is streets paved with gold such an important thing?
