Rich Young Man at Gun Store

My brother came into town and we were able to secure a tee time at Cedar Ridge country club here in Tulsa. I didn't realize that Cedar Ridge was essentially almost on the level with Southern Hills. So, when we arrived the parking lot was filled with vehicles that were usually 100K plus. And the patrons were certainly above the pay scale of the average Tulsan.

The course was the most immaculate golf course I've ever been on, and I've been on some pretty nice golf courses. The people were very friendly, and the staff was incredibly attentive, I could certainly see why people would like a nice country club. What used to be the same attention you got at a public course is now only reserved for country club patrons. Everyone was very polite and all of the other members were incredibly nice and welcoming. That was the kind of a shock.

That all being said, I didn't have any more fun playing that course that I have had in the past playing courses that cost me $13. That were certainly not as nice. In fact, there was so much pressure to have a good time I don't think I had a good time.

After the round we went to the little club and had some drinks and ate peanuts and talked. Everyone knew each other and there was a lot of cutting up among the members. My brother told me that maybe I should join a club. I told him that I was never willing to do the things that it would take to make that kind of money. I've been around people that make a lot of money, and almost without exception, they will do things that I will not do. Not 100%, but the moral compass becomes very skewed when large amounts of money are involved. And for the most part, most of the rich people I know are not happy. They seem to be almost tormented. It takes so much to maintain that lifestyle.
Well stated

My dad always told me the same thing...only he was telling me I was lazy!!! ;):D

I had a boss call me in one time sat me down and asked me if I was lazy. I'll never forget that as long as I live. That conversation would have gone a lot different if he wasn't my boss.

They say Jeffrey Epstein was really rich. I know Ghislane Maxwell was rich.

I think being rich and working hard disconnected a long time ago. I know guys that dig ditches that work their asses off.

I know folks who have been very successful. They worked their asses off their entire lives and many still do. Owning a successful small business (defined as less than 500 employee's) is a 24-7 job. Some of them do find time to play and you'd never know just how successful they really are until you understand the capital investment they have in the business and the revenue needed to support that kind of capital investment. Talk about stress. The stress nearly killed one of the guys I know. He got through it, sold the business and now lives the life of riely relatively stress free. I would say that 95 or more percent of the population do not have what it takes to get there. I don't and I never did get there. My hats off to those who do. The rest of us work for them and without them, we'd be on the streets.

Maybe that Lambo was used. How about any new Powerstrokes or Rams in the parking lot? Bet those things go for quite a bit nowadays and maybe more than a used Lambo. Would you have posted anything if he got in a new Powerstroke?

They must have really nice roads around Tulsa. The roads in SC aren’t maintained well enough for nice cars. They are barely maintained well enough for 2500HD Chevys….

This is the truth. New trucks are more than a new Mercedes
You got that right! When my mechanic asked me if I was sure I wanted to dump 3 large on a new front diff in my 2004 Ram 4x4 since it has 315k miles on it “you know one of these days that motor is just gonna give up”
I told him hell yes and when it does I’m gonna have you put a new crate motor in it. I’m not spending more on a new truck then I did on my first house! They are nice though!

Careful what you wish for. Extreme wealth is isolating, and brings out the worst in the people around you.
Very true. I have a highschool buddy that has done very well for himself. His parents were pauper immigrants who worked their guts out and the kids had to as well. All four kids ended up successful professionals. My buddy has a weakness for exotic cars and has had just about them all. McLarens / Lambos/ Porsches /.. were fine but when he got a Ferrari, none of his "buddies" would talk to him. Onsold it in less than a month. Proves you can flaunt it too much.

Obviously they were not really his buddies.

Money doesn't make people....people make people.

Follow my tracks.

I have seen people look like a million bucks and drive fancy cars and truck and owe on everything. Gotta look good to their friends. Seen others that look like a dirt poor farmer and probably have that million sitting in an investment portfolio. They grew up not so well off and worked hard and did well, but don't flaunt it.

If I won a big lottery, I would still drive my old truck and dress in jeans and a t-shirt/sweat shirt. Not gonna hold my breath on winning one though!!!

There is an indoor shooting range and gun store in downtown West Palm Beach, the city tried to stop them from opening up and the war over it went on for months. This shop is 3 minutes from Palm Beach with all of its ultra rich, but I never expected them to go to the gun range to shoot. But much to my surprise I pull up and there is a brand new pearl white convertible Bentley in the lot. So i go inside and window shop for a about 10 minutes, before someone points me to an AR buffer and spring I had called about earlier. As I am paying for my buffer, out from the range walks a 60 something Palm Beacher dressed to the max with purple hair. She has two of the slickest looking STIs I have ever seen, and she walks over to a counter guy she obviously knows and says, " Get the gunsmith to clean these and look them over. I'll be back day after tomorrow." She then walks out to the Bentley and heads to the island. Ive never been a big fan of money but to shoot all morning and not clean anything , and have it waiting for you next visit sounds kinda cool to me.
