Our illustrious Mayor filled out the paperwork wrong and Kerrville isn’t getting any vaccine. I would have to go to San Antonio to even have a chance. They’re giving out a whopping 9 thousand doses a day, two days a week, when they have doses. With a population of 2.3 million, I give it a year!
There's multiple optios for COVID-19 vaccination outside the VA in Bexar County (San Antonio) and Kerrville. Anyone meeting TexasGroup 1A and / or 1B requirements can use these sources regardless of veteran status. You may already be aware of these but in case you or other board members can use this info here it is.
HEB Pharmacy has been administering COVID-19 vaccinations, typically in comunties that aren't large cities. Kerrvile has one such site to watch for vaccine availability.

The University Health system connected to UT has been dispensing over 4,000 doses per day, combined first and second doses, of the Pfizer vaccine here in SA. That's where I got my first dose January 27 and my second dose is scheduled for Wednesday morning February 17. They received national recognition for their performance and have been named a model COVID-19 vaccination provider, meaning others here should emulate their performance (unlikely though from city & county services here). I downloaded their UH GO app in January and received a push notification on my phone at 6 PM on January 22. I immediately went to their website and after refreshing a number of times got through to the registration page. I picked a midweek appointment figurig higher competition for other days, and had wrapped up my registration just as the mayor and Judge Wolf announced registration was currently open at 6:18 PM. I was in & out in 30 minues including post vaccination observation period. Super streamlined, extremely efficient, and properly staffed operation at Wonderland Mall of the Americas. I'd encourage you to download that UH GO app if driving to SA is an option for you. They administered their 1000,000 dose last week among the 186,000 doses administered thus far in Bexar County. All waiting in line is done indoors, inside the mall. Typical reported total in to out times have been 30 minutes, like my experience. The lines move briskly.
The city & county is in charge of a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Alamodome. Local info says they open this system Mon - Thu for reservations when vaccine is available. When open, registration is available both by phone call and online. I've read folks are allowed to wait in their vehicles until called inside instead of everyone standing in lines.
How can I register to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the Alamodome?

WellMed is providing vaccinations at two SA Senior Citizen Centers, registration is by phone calls only.
CVS has begun taking reservations for COVID-19 vaccination at some of their Texas locations. Kerrville isn’t currently on their list but hopefully they'll add it at some point.
Schedule your COVID-19 vaccine at CVS Pharmacy. Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech and Novavax vaccines are available. No cost with most insurance. Restrictions apply.

Persistence is key whether trying to register online or by phone call for these services in the San Antonio area. When Wellmed opens their phone call only system, it's typically open more than one day in a row now because phone call only takes much more time. Getting through to make a connection to reserve an appointment anywhere, both online and by phone call, is somewhat random when systems are open for registration.
Best wishes to everyone needing to secure an appointment to get vaccinated.
