Post Office shipping

8 packages currently in transit via USPS since end of November. All have stopped tracking, some for over a week now. I'll be requesting ups or FedEx for the foreseeable future.

I have to ask. We have the same issues every year during this time of year. Why tempt fate? I have a pile of stuff I won't ship until after year end.

Mostly cuz I just like to trade around and have been finding some great deals. I should have learned my lesson from that tikka I sent you that went missing but I didn’t.

I have used USPS for many years and so far so good. But I will admit, since this covid hit and the holidays here it has been hit or miss a lot lately. I have shipped many long guns over the years. I never use anything related to guns in the shipping address on the label that is on the box.

I've literally had to create a Word doc to keep track of all the lost/late USPS packages I'm waiting on. Up to 7 at this time. This is crazy!

I sold 2 things here on the forum today. Couldn't in good conscience ship them USPS. Paid more, but shipped both via FedEx. Cost a little more, but I'm very confident they'll arrive safely and relatively on time(plus or minus a day or two primarily because of the 16" of snow we received today).

Shipped a scope back to Sightron via FedEx for warranty work earlier this week. It arrived today and on time.

I ordered a 21st century neck turner on November 26! It was shipped on November 30 priority flat rate box. Still no package and no word since November 8! This is BS!

Package arrived today in perfect shape!! Another package is Lost In Space!!

Not a single tracking update for me today. We are going to town tomorrow and the wife has things to mail, I told her we are waiting until after the first of the year. After a 6 month order time I have a new McMillan stock going into the mail right now.

Ordered some auto parts. FedEx from Arizona to NY. Around 4 days. USPS from NY to NY. Been close to 11 days and my tracking shows package sitting in some Metro NY Distribution Center. Hasn't moved for days. Guess which one I recommend.

After a huge taxpayer funded bailout, the USPS backlog will momentarily improve. Nothing short of a mass restructuring - i..e, starting over from scratch - will improve the situation. It is a leaky ship with so many holes that sinking is inevitable; the only question is when.

Ever since I have been in the trigger business about 20 yrs, I have only shipped Priority Mail. Back in the GOOD days Dec was always a very good month. No lost or delayed packages.
Now today the USPS is a train wreck. Not enough personnel to handle
the mass of online ordering due to covid. My understanding USPS has also got a contract to deliver for Amazon. Its for a fact, a company can not take the same amount of personnel or maybe less due to sick leaves, and handle twice or more package loads. It just wont work.
I recently sold a rifle to a Colorado customer. It took 15dys for his money to arrive to Ky in a FR Priority envelope. Needless to say, I shipped the rifle UPS which at the quickest is normally 5 days anywhere,
the rifle delivered on the 3rd day. I was amazed.
Maybe when the Christmas rush is over the PO will get back closer to normal. I know they have always done a GREAT job for me. If the whole postal system operated as efficiently as my route carrier there wouldn't be any problems. Merry Christmas LDS

If you ship something by Usps it will most likely end up lost with my ballot.

Oh your ballot made it, and it was counted as .7 of a vote, that's how Joe was able to get 1.3 votes.

All packages I've mailed USPS to all points east have either made it on time or ahead of schedule.
I do believe there can be a heavy delay going through some of the midwest metropolitan areas.

Ordered some spiked bipod feet on 12/7 from PA to ID, took three days.

Same day ordered a BDL, Wyatts box, spring, follower and trigger from CO to ID and it still isn’t here. The 2300 mile trip was no problem but the 600 mile trip...

Hopefully they find a couple million Trump votes with my box for a WIN...WIN.

That is great advice. i had a money order sit in the post office regional center for 3 weeks in the same town i live in. i think packages will reliably get delivered but its just chaos right now. a postal person said they are down 50% percent help right now with the covid 19 thing and their packages and mail is up over 100% with Christmas. its just the perfect storm right now and i will wait till after the first of the year to ship . Again, great advice Dave.

If something you need/want becomes available (in stock) you have to order it and have it shipped. Don’t have much of a choice unless you want to roll the dice on when it will be in stock again.
