Post Office shipping

I just shipped a rifle from Delaware to Colorado with $500.00 insurance and Priority mail Cost $80.85 it's hardly worth shipping anymore I would use Fed-X or UPS but they are 1-1/2 hour rom me I don't guess they are any cheaper?

The USPS has been beat up here on many posts.
The "Priority" doesn't have a guarantee, if you look at the fine print.
Hopefully in 2-3 days, but usually longer. This time of year, who knows.
UPS has tracking and insurance up to $100 without spending another penny.

The US post office has always been good to me. I just shipped out 31 boxes of 180 grain hybrids to Oregon and Texas, shipped and insured cost me $66.Heavy packages to be shipped that far from here in Pennsylvania they arrived on time when they said they would and in good shape.

I'm waiting on a chassis that someone shipped USPS Priority 10 days ago. No updates in the tracking info for the past 9 day.

I had a rifle shipped from my FFL to a buyer. Sent out a week ago. No updates in tracking since last Thursday.

USPS is not the way to go right now.

10 to 14 days is beginning to look like the norm for the USPS.

I ordered a 21st century neck turner on November 26! It was shipped on November 30 priority flat rate box. Still no package and no word since November 8! This is BS!

I have a package from PMA that’s been in town 3 miles away since 12/06. Tracking says it’s there but going to be delayed. I was in Po yesterday and line was wrapped around lobby twice. I decided I would just wait it out. Explanation on USPS tracking is an employee shortage due to Covid and the volume of packages. Judging by what I saw yesterday I can wait it out. God bless them.
Our UPS driver is doing pickups in 45 ft trailer. Crazy.
Waverly

I recently went to my local USPS and the lady there refused to ship my gun to Kelblys priority. Said it had to be express. Total 140. No convincing her that I had shipped priority before. She pulled a book out and started reading to me. So, I just took imy gun and left. FedEx is now at Dollar General but they had already picked up and would not keep it in the store over night. I drove the extra 30 minutes and went to the closest Fedex Store. Lady at the counter states “that’s a bow right!” I looked at her and smiled. She took the gun case. 65 bucks with insurance. Will not be going back to USPS to ship a gun.

I have the exact same thing with a stock coming to me LuvDog. From what I'm reeading and hearing this is a well known national thing.

Kind of reminds me of when I was a kid and mailed my cereal box tops in for something and couldn't wait for the mail to arrive.

I think waverly nailed it.

I sent a buddy a small package, who just had knee surgery. Did the Requires Signature thing so he would get it at the door, instead of his M/B 50 yrds. away. NOPE left it in the M/B. Thanks USPS:(

My wife had some meds shipped overnight UPS w/ signature required. I found a ‘Sorry we missed you’ post-it on our mailbox and the meds inside. We were both at home all day.

I just did a click n ship USPS priority long gun today. Laid it on the counter and they took it without hesitation. Label is addressed to a Rifle and Pistol club. They won't have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out what's in the box. We'll see how it goes.

I have had EXACTLY the same scenario happen to me -Twice.
No attempt to knock on a door or see if anyone home which is a good likelihood since wife and I are both retired and have lots to do here on a farm. Just pi---es me off that someone has paid extra for "adult signature required" and then they leave it in a mailbox on a rural road or rubber banded to the outside of the box if they can't stuff it in. Cost of shipping is getting out of handoff you don't have an account like the big boys-sent a shoebox sized game to grandson 100 miles away-$9.00. Getting outrageous

Perfectly within the USPS regulations for individuals to ship rifles/shotguns via any USPS service (Priority, Express or even Parcel) as long as GCA'68 laws are complied with. When I need to ship a handgun it's easy to take it to my FFL holder friend and have him ship it USPS Priority, not to mention it is a helluva lot cheaper.

Recently had an FFL ship a handgun I sold via UPS to the receiving FFL. Thought I read somewhere that handguns couldn't be shipped USPS? That not be an old guy memory failure thing.
