I hate to even post this but it is so stupid of me that I'll take my licks. I was re-sizing some LC 223 brass tonight. First three seemed awful hard to get the expander ball in.. But by damn I did it. Got suspicious and checked it out. I had 204 brass.. A few days ago I was reloading some more 223 and needed a plastic bullet box to put em in. So I dumped out a box of spent 204 into a plastic bowl.. For some reason tonight I thought I had put a buncha LC brass in there.. Turns out I was wrong.. Looks like you can make 223 brass outa 204 with enough trimming.

I don't care how thorough or detail oriented anyone is. We are human, and we make mistakes. Bright sides- you learned something new, you caught it, you probably won't whiff on that again, and you still have your face intact. Cons - you're working some 204 brass pretty hard

I've accidently tried to load 223 ammo into a 204R or 204R ammo into a 223 before. The bolt acted really weird, so I stopped and looked, wrong ammo for the gun I was about to shoot. I don't take both of those calibers to the range on the same day now.

Amateur.. You know you are a true dip shit if you ever get a case stuck, because you fail to lube it. Finally get it out and promptly run another un-lubed case in the die promptly sticking it as well. Get that one out and place another un-lubed case in the shell holder, grab the handle..... Then promptly shout out WTF am I doing???? Stopping in time to lube the batch of cases.. So carry on with your amateurish attempts to do some thing stupid..

I once tried to push a black bear into a trash dumpster to prank the bear.. So you know I can do some stuuuuupid stuff...

Look at it this way, you did better this way than thinking the bowl was filled with Halloween sized KitKat bars and munched on one.

now that is truly a hold my beer and watch this shit moment, hope it was caught on video

My finest moment was taking .260 and .308 ammo to the range and wondering why I was having a hard time keeping them on paper. While I was checking the scope mounts etc my buddy pointed out that those .308's sure looked skinny

It's commonly mentioned that insanity is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results...

Two weeks ago I am trying to form new brass for my new wildcat. I was using Lapua cases and Peterson Wildcat tubes, neither of which are cheap - I can't even get any more of the Peterson brass. I was stepping down from .308, to 7mm\08, to .260, to .257AI. I kept on smashing the shoulders flat, like a mushroom. I would post pictures but the cases were all thrown in the trash can in a fit of rage. Go figure.

It turns out after the 8th or 9th case that I pulled out a mic and measured the brass OAL. I had been smashing the top of the neck down and the brass was wrinkling in the easiest place that it could directly under the shoulder - it had nothing to do with the shoulder or the die. A quick "haircut" solved the problem.

It's not so much that I made the mistake, it's that I repeated it 9 times before I stopped and thought about what I was doing wrong.

No it was not caught on video. It was in 1988 at Ft Hauchuca AZ. I was an MP there and we had a call for a bear in the picnic area. I got there and it had no clue I was there. It was eating out of the dumpster and I snuck up behind it. I was 5 feet a way when it jumped into the dumpster ruining my plan. There is more to this but I won’t go into it because there is only so much stupidity i will divulge. Another MP avrived to watch most of this. He was there for the dumber part.

come on you can't leave us hanging like that!!!!

I accidentally jammed a .30 cal cleaning rod/jag/patch into the chamber of a brand new (zero rounds) Bartlein .224" barrel. I never could see anything bad it might have done to the chamber/barrel with a borescope, but the ES values are extraordinarily high, even though groups out to about 330 yd seem to still be very good. The good news: that momentary loss of focus gave me a wonderful new low round count fire-forming barrel. :(

I know a guy that forgot to change the shell holder in the press and pulled the rim off of a 243AI in his full length bushing die. Then he bent the decapping rod inside the the die trying to pull out the stuck case. 85.00 later he had new die Lol.
